Nathalie Harada [Quincy]

Nath's father, Christophe Amauri, met her mother, Hirono Harada, while he was on a business trip in Japan. He was a very handsome man, having golden and thick hair, deep blue eyes along with his tall and strong build. He had been taking a day off, and decided to take a peek into a small flower shop on the way back to his hotel. And that was where he met Hirono. She was praised for her beauty, having big and almost black eyes, long and raven black hair that reached down to her lower back. Her build and face were beautiful and delicate, her manners good even if she was "just a commoner". They had met by coincidence, as she had been in that same flower shop to buy a single red rose for her mother which was sick in the hospital. Hirono was 24 years old, and hadn't gotten the chance to finish highschool because of her mother being emitted early to a hospital because of a heart failure. She didn't know where her father was or if he was even alive. Now Christophe was 36 years old, well educated and used to getting what he wanted while also carrying the burden of taking over his father's stock company after the old man would pass away. This company was well known in France, and it raked in money. Despite having a bit of an age difference and a very different upbringing, they got married after having only known each other for 5 months.

Christophe's young bride didn't want to leave Japan just yet, as her mother was very ill and it wasn't known how much longer she had. So he went ahead to France and waited there for a word from her. Hirono got pregnant shortly after the wedding, and when she had carried the child for a month then her mother passed away. Now there was nothing in their way, and she moved to her husband in France. But then the difficulties seemed to really begin. Christophe had 2 other children from his earlier marriage. His wife had died in a car crash, and left him with their son and daughter. Christophe didn't have much time, nor the ability, to raise the children alone so he got them nannies while also allowing their grandparents to visit and also to take the children for a few days or weeks to allow their father to get some rest. But the children got spoiled rotten and quicly became very aware of their ability to get anything they wanted.
Now the boy was 14 years old and the girl was 8, and neither of them was particularly happy when their father brought a foreign young woman into their house and told them this would be their new mother and that they should expect a new sibling within the next 8 months. Christophe's parents were also highly against this, but he was more stubborn than they were and told them that either they would get over this or he would move away from France to get some peace. Hirono had a bit of a hard time in adjusting to France. Her stepchildren hated her and did nothing to hide that, her parents inlaw watched her like she was a failure to mankind and it was difficult for her to learn her husband's language. Fortunately then he was fluent in Japanese, so he was able to teach her and communicate with her.

As then she had the child. It was a happy day for both of them, even if the shadows of the other family members kept looming over them. The child turned out to be a beautiful girl, and she was named Nathalie. It was decided that Nathalie would get to keep her mother's family name, as it was clear there was no way she'd be able to have her father's family name without his parents getting a heartattack. The toddler grew up to be a quiet and very calm, being very easy to handle and be around. Her half-siblings never so much as looked at her, and if she tried to get near them then she was pushed coldly away. The same was with her grandparents. Nathalie's parents worried that this would hurt the child, but even as she turned 5 years old then she didn't show any sign of being emotionally damaged from the constant tension in the house.


At the age of 5, Nath started getting home schooled. She showed great potentials, and got the best teachers. At the age of 6 she was already reading every single book she could get, and often proved to be very mature despite her young age. She had learned to stay away from her grandparents and half siblings, but even so then she got a bit of a beating every once in a while from her half brother while her half sister stole her dolls and broke them. It was as if there was a constant war zone in the home. Nath's father was reluctant in letting her go to a public school, and instead insisted on having her home schooled a bit longer. She was taught quickly to speak French, while she also spoke Japanese with her mother. When reacing the age of 9 she was way ahead of other children her own age. She liked playing chess with her father, and was starting to read poems along with pondering about any matter that a child would normally not be wondering over.

Around the age of 9, Nath begun to feel something weird inside of her and she became very aware of spiritual beings around her. Feeling frightened and worried, she confronted her mother about this. Hirono had felt her heart sink as she got to know that her daughter had inherited the Quincy ability, but felt obligated to tell her daughter the truth about what she was. Nath felt a thrill over having this abilities, and not long after having heard the truth, then she was starting to practise a bit on her own. Hirono kept a close eye on her daughter, but decided it would probably be best to help her out and train her in secret.
At her 10th year, her mother insisted that she would get the chance to go to school and meet other children of her own age so she wouldn't be too lonely. And Christophe finally gave in and enrolled Nath into an all-girls school, which was a very strict and fancy school. Nath got to skip a grade, and when only half a year into the grade she had started in, then she got to skip that one also. The teachers wondered how such a young child could be this smart while also being calm and polite, and favorited her over the other students. That naturally didn't really make her popular with the other kids, but they were too scared of her social status to really bully her. Instead she was just ignored.


The school years went over fast, and as gradeschool was over for her, then Nath was enrolled into a fancy highschool in France at the age of 14. She didn't hang much out with others there, but preferred to stay at the library and read. It was getting a bit difficult for her to stay much at home, as her half siblings had decided to stop the ignoring and tried their best instead to make her life a living Hell. She got called names, her things were taken, she even had bruises after her half brother after being grabbed roughly or thrown against walls and pushed harshly aside. He seemed to be taking a liking as to how beautiful his younger sister was turning out to be, and Nath only reaching the age of 15 was starting to feel terrified of being at her own home. It wouldn't have done much good to talk to her parents, since she didn't want to make them feel worried or sad. So Nath had a dream to be able to go away for a bit, although the thought of not being able to be around her parents pained her a bit.

Her Quincy training kept on through the years, and Nath proved to be very skillful. Her mother felt proud, but was also scared that someone might find out. The last thing she wanted was for her husband to feel like his daughter would be in danger because of her abilities.


When Nath turned 17, she graduated from her highschool and then brought up a special request to her father. Her wish was to go to the United States to enter Harvard. She had applied to the school without telling anyone, and she had gotten accepted right away. Christophe wanted of course only the best things for his daughter, but he still felt a bit hesitant about letting her move this far away. Hirono however was not as blind as to how the situation at the home was turning out to be, and pressured her husband in allowing their young daughter to go. And so, a week later, Nath flew out to the United States. Her father had bought an apartment for her to live in, and he paid for all her expenses. It would have been no use for her to try and tell her father that she would manage. He wanted to be able to at least do something for his daughter.

It was as if Nath just now started to open more up, and she got a few friends in the US. She was naturally very popular for her looks, but there were also people that were fascinated by her thinking. She did extremely well in her studies, having taken Corporate Financial Management as her main subject. She wrote her parents letters and told them about everything in her life, and got letters sent to her with colorful descriptions of their lives in France. Nath got introduced to a girl named Ruth which had a pretty cheerful personality but was very smart. She was a year younger than Nath, and somehow the immediately clicked together and became best friends.

But disaster struck at Nath's 20th birthday. Her parents had been flying to Brazil when their jet had crashed and both had died. And now her grandparents were summoning her back to France, telling her she should quit the school and not be spending money on this nonsense. Not knowing what else to do, Nath quit the school and said goodbye to her friends, before going back to France. She went to her parents funeral, but stared with dry eyes at their graves. This was just too unbelievable. She couldn't and wouldn't admit that she had lost them both. It was just now which the other relatives started to loom around. Her father had left her a large amount of money, even more than her half-siblings, and that was not something to be considered fair in the family. Her mother had left her a house in Japan, but that was it. No one really cared either about the things that had to do with the Japanese woman which Christophe had brought into the family.

Nath felt like she was a prisoner. Each day she was watched, greedy eyes followed her around the house. Her half sister was even more hostile before, while her half brother was a complete sleezeball which tried nothing to hide the fact that he intended to get into her bed. As time passed, Nath felt that she was loosing herself more and more. She couldn't handle this and decided to just leave. It was getting too unbearable to stay in France, so she contacted a lawyer of her own and made it so that her money was secured from all of her relatives. And then, she took off to Japan. She celebrated her 21st birthday on the plane, while crying quietly for everything that had taken place. Not only for the last year, but her whole life. She also cried for her mother which had never been accepted to France, and she cried for her father that was constantly made choose between the woman he loved and his family.


Now, Nath has lived in Karakura for a month. She doesn't really know anyone, and is in a search for a job. Even if she has quite the amount of money in a private bankbook, then she doesn't feel like touching that. The house her mother left her has already been payed for, and even if it is just a medium sized and a normal house, then Nath feels a bit like she's finally at home. She has come to realize that here in Karakura there are more spiritual beings, and also something dangerous. But she is mainly now searching to see if she can find other Quincy, perhaps so that she can feel like she belongs somewhere. She texts Ruth whenever she feels uneasy, and is relieved to be able to have someone that she can still connect to, even if there is this huge distance gap between them.

Name: Hirenkyaku (飛廉脚; lit: "Flying Screen Step/God Step", Viz: "Flying Bamboo-Blind Leg")
Description: Analogous to the Shinigami Flash Steps or the Arrancar Sonído. The Quincy Hirenkyaku allows the user to move quickly over short distances. To perform the technique, the user gathers spiritual particles under their feet and rides them to the desired location. Like the air-walking skill displayed by most Arrancar and Shinigami, it can also be used to hover or fly for long distances.

Name: Wolke ’ Cloud ‘
Description: This spell uses one Gintou tube to create a large blast of reiatsu. It is strong enough to be used to cushion the impact of a hard fall. It is activated by this incantation: “Tilt the goblet to the west - Emerald Grail!”.

Name: Ransōtengai (乱装天傀; lit. "heavenly wild puppet suit", ")
Description: This is a high level technique that allows the user to control their body parts using strings of spirit energy controlled by their brain, forming lines or strings out of countless spiritrons. By using this technique, the user can control their body as one would a puppet, allowing them to move freely despite paralysis, broken limbs, or any other force that would impede normal movement. It was originally created to allow elderly Quincy to fight effectively

Name: Heizen ’ Heating ‘
Description: This spell uses four tubes of Gintou thrown at the opponent while proceeding the incantation: "Feel the wrath of battle and accept this sacred chalice - Sacred Bite!". A long, sturdy piece of squared metal timber comes out from above, to impact the area the tubes where thrown at. It is powerful and edged enough to cut through flesh, for those of Nath's rank or below.

Name: Gintou ’ Silver Tubes ‘
Description: A small silver cylinder capsule that store spiritual energy in a liquid form, and are used only by Quincy for spell casting in the same manner Shinigami use Kidou. These tubes are entirely used up per Spell the Quincy uses. 8 Spills will empty a tube. Nath is currently stocking 14 of those.

Name: Grêle de Flèches [Hail of Arrows]
Description: Nathalie uses the ability of the Barrage that allows her to shoot several dozen arrows at once, but manipulates the spiritual particles in the way that instead of going straight at the target the arrows seem to explode out from her bow and come from all directions around the opponent/s. The arrows scatter around and don't do much damage to the opponent/s if they would hit, but are good as a distraction as Nathalie charges up a bigger arrow and shoots it just after the others have landed. When the final arrow comes in contact with any of the smaller ones, it acts as a detonator and they all explode at ones. The explosion goes over the whole area wherever a small arrow is and it takes the shape of a butterfly. The explosion is very powerful, being able to damage anyone below that of a Captain or Espada level.

Name: Attaque à Double Flèche [Double Arrow Attack]
Description: Nathalie's bow shoots a big arrow (around twice the size of a normal one) that splits immediately into 2 smaller ones that are black and white, coming at each side of the enemy.
The black arrow has the ability, that if it pierces the target, the reishi will pour into the affected area and unless nullified with an equal amount of spirit energy, the user will find it difficult to use any sort of attack which uses reiatsu or reishi. [Kido, Cero, etc] Such attacks will cost twice the normal amounts of energy, because they will need to expend enough energy to over come the foreign reishi as well as the required energy for the technique.

Now the white arrow explodes right before it comes in contact with the enemy and turns into a thick mist that blocks out all sounds and sense of spiritual energy, confusing and momentarily blinding the enemy, giving Nathalie the chance to strike or get away if facing a powerful enemy.

Name: Négation de la Défense [Denial of Defense]
Description: This third ability allows the user to launch a large arrow made of reishi at the target. Once the arrow is launched, it will split into 10 smaller arrows. These arrows cause little damage but they act as an anti-hierro technique that destabilizes reishi upon impact. [Thus negating or weakening hierro depending on the rank of the rager in relation to the user.] 2 ranks or higher = No change in hierro. 1 rank or higher = Slight disruption in hierro, making it easier to break. Equal rank or lower= Hierro is negated in the area where the arrow makes contact.

Name: Dernier Recours [Last Resort]
Description: The last technique requires a fairly large amount of reishi to create, but the effect is well worth the cost. The user creates 4 exploding arrows at once that fragment and detonate upon impact. The arrows can be created with varying amounts of reishi, which will control the size of the explosions. The smallest explosion would be enough to damage anyone under Nath's level, while the biggest might even give a Captain/Espada (while not using shikai/resu) something to worry about. Would depend on their level of defensive measures though. So anyone below those high levels would get dangerously injured or killed if the arrows land straight on the target. Nath only uses this technique when she can't be sure she or someone she was protecting would otherwise escape alive. She dislikes greatly the idea of harming someone or destroying properties. (This does not account for hollows, as she has no sympathy for them.)

She woke up to a distant beeping, and for a moment Nath just lay still while wondering what the heck that sound had been. The beeping came again, making her lift her head off of the pillow and rub her sleep filled eyes. Her hair was in a very neat messed up bundle, and her covers had probably been laying on the floor for a few hours. Oh, it's my phone. Faceplanting into the pillow, she started to blindly fumble around with her hand towards the nightstand until she finally found the familiar form of her cellphone. Flipping it open, she peered her eyes to see 2 new messages. Of course it had been Ruth that was texting her, and it seemed that her friend was being overly bored as the third message came beeping in. "What are you doing? >_< Are you asleep?" Nath stiffled a yawn before smiling slightly at the phone. "Well..I was." Her fingers danced over the buttons, quickly replying to her impatient friend. She had wanted to know what Nath had been doing the day before, and also asked if there were any cute guys around. "It seems like I haven't met anyone like that, and wont be optimistic about it." A reply that went well with Nath, since she knew it was probably the truth. Oh I forgot.. She wrote another text quickly, sharing with her friend that the only fun thing that had happened the day before was her short trip to the supermarket.

Nath rolled over onto her back, letting the phone lie on her bare stomach while she waited for a reply to come. It would probably be some scolding about her not trying hard enough to find someone to date. Psh, not like anyone here would want to date someone as tall as me. She was still shocked truth be told after having arrived to Japan how short everybody seemed to be. She could have sworn she could relate to how a giraffe felt like in a herd of antilopes. And naturally, no guy would really be that interested in a girl that could look down on him when not even wearing high heels. She had felt bad about her height before, but in France and the US then she had at least not towered over most of the males also! The phone vibrated and beeped, making her jump a bit as she had gotten too lost in her own thoughts. Flipping it open, she couldn't help but chuckle as she could see a long text of ranting. Just like she had expected. It was a mystery as to how she and Ruth could be this close, since they were like fire and water. Ruth was outgoing and very stylish, although Nath couldn't say anything else than she herself also had good style when it came to clothing. But Ruth also beamed of confidence. She was a really pretty blonde, with big blue eyes and cute pouting mouth. She easily wrapped any guy she wanted around her fingers.

Nath was however hopeless. She lacked confidence, and therefore responded badly if someone started hitting on her. She was like an "Amazon", according to Ruth. Nath felt best when she could just dress in normal, slightly dark colors and just manage to blend in the crowd and be able to just be left alone from time to time. Certainly it was nice to mingle with others, but she didn't like it if she was catching people's attention. Pondering to herself, she started writing a reply to Ruth, halfway apologizing for not being able to bring her friend any saucy news about some hot Japanese guys. "When I find Prince Charming, you will be the first one to know! Promise." The reply came almost right after Nath had pressed Send. "Yeah that better happen! xD" Smiling to herself, she dropped the phone again down on the nightstand before glancing at her clock. "Ugh, 4 am? Is she crazy?" With a groan she dug her head into the pillow and closed her eyes, ready to get back into the dreamworld. Didn't look like it was about to happen anytime soon, as 30 minutes later she was still twisting and turning around on the bed while trying to find a comfortable position. I'm going to kill Ruth.

Nath swung her long legs out of the bed and walked towards the kitchen. Reaching up into one of the cabinents, she grabbed a small glass before turning the water on. While waiting for it to get cold enough, she looked out of the window while yawning. What should I do tomorrow? Job hunting again? It was difficult to find a job that would suit her well, and no one seemed to want to give it a shot to hire such a young girl as a cook. The glass got filled with water, and then placed back empty on the counter. Nath stretched lazily as she walked back towards the bed and let herself plop down on the middle of it. Sleeeeeeeep. She grabbed the covers up from the floor, curled up under it and closed her eyes again. She would not give up in trying to get more sleep, as she didn't have the least intention of looking like a zombie when she would go out job hunting again!
