The cat would like a nap...

It was a dark night in the Seireitai. There was no moon out, just the clouded inky black sky. Most of the stars were absent also, a few twinkling here and there. A rather soft breeze blew throughout the area, rustling the trees. Some shinigami were out and about, but it had to be around midnight. Most of the uptight ones were already fast asleep, while others were out drinking. Maybe some workaholics were still doing paperwork, though it was somewhat unlikely.

The patches of dead brown leaves, left over from the dead winter, sat still in forgotton alley ways. A large mess of leaves whirled in the air, almost as if a mini tornado had kicked them from their slumber. But it wasn't the wind that caused them to flutter, it was none other then former 2nd Division captain, Yoruichi Shihōin. She was of course, in her animal form. It was that of a housecat, with shiny golden eyes and soft black fur. Her long, pretty tail swished back and forth behind. Her eyes flickered around the area, observing thr scenery. Her "visit" was kept a massive secret despite the fact she was welcome in the Soul Society.

Yoruichi had only came to the Soul Society to investigate on whether Sui Feng, her former protege, had disappeared like Urahara and Tessai had. After slinking around the 2nd Division headquarters, Yoruichi had gotten her answer. Sui Feng had indeed disappeared. In fact, Yoruichi had notice certain other captains were absent from their positions. On normal circumstances, Yoruichi would probably be back in Karakura, napping in the Urahara Shop while enjoying some milk. Now that Yoruichi had recieved her answers, she couldn't do much more about the situation.

The Soul Society would've located the missing Shinigami if it was that simple. Yoruichi flashstepped up to a roof, grooming the back of one of her paws. Her black fur blended perfectly into the serene night. This caused her yellow eyes to look as if they were floating in mid-air. She wondered if she should take a nap somewhere until she could get a way back to Karakura Town, as her small personal mission was finished. Jinta and Ururu were probably bickering, as usual, but she had confidence that the two young Humans could take care of themselves for a night or two. Yoruichi yawned, slightly upset that her former protege was missing.

Kyoshiro was out running around the Seireitei's maze-like walls. He enjoyed the feel of the cool night air as it rustled through his hair. Though he was also looking for some form of entertainment. Though he looked and acted like a kid, he was truly a very observant and serious fighter, however, he hid this fact. He hid it because if he was to be serious it would not be as fun. He was a third seat of Division Eleven. Most people would not believe this fact with the way Kyoshiro acted, and that was the way he liked it.

Kyoshiro jumped across a few walls in simple leaps. He was observing the area between the walls as he looked for a shinigami to play with. On his search, he found an odd creature in the Seireitei. The only reason as to why he spotted the black cat was because of the moon's light reflecting in its golden eyes. Kyoshiro came to a halt and peered down at it curiously.

"KITTY!" he yelled happily as he lunged off the wall, aiming straight for Yoruichi. "KITTY! KITTY! KITTY!" he said, falling straight for it, his arms outstretched ready to latch on and snuggle the little creature. If he managed to get a hold of it, he would then begin to scratch it behind its ears and rub his nose against its own.

Tenrai Raiden, the current captain of the 2nd Division was in his office within the 2nd Division Barracks taking a nap on his desk. There was very little paperwork left for him so he decided to take a nap before finishing his work. The captain slept peacefully until he suddenly woke up from a feeling that hit him in his sleep. He woke up slightly dazed but an instant later composed himself and narrowed his eyes. He had a feeling something was strange, and when he tried to figure out what, he could sense that there was something lurking around his headquarters. He couldnt make out what the presence was exactly but he knew that indeed something was there and now he decided that he had to check it out.

Tenrai got up, adjusted his clothing and put on his captain haori. He opened in the door took a step outside and closed it. He closed his eyes trying to lock onto the faint presence as it exited from his barracks and decided he should move fast, disappearing with a stealthy and quick shunpo. As he followed the presence, Tenrai sensed another person was nearby, this one was definately a shinigami. It seemed that the two things he sensed were close by so Tenrai followed the shinigami and when he arrived at the location, he sticked close to whatever shadow was nearby and decided to just listen in a figure out what was going on.

He heard Kitty and he sighed...was he really chasing a cat this entire time...He remained in the shadows, waiting for something to occure if it was going to.

It was indeed midnight, and a few shinigami were enjoying the night life. Some of the various bars were occupied by a few of these night time drinkers, but in the corner of one of these bars, sat Maxwell. The 3rd seat shinigami had found himself a nice spot in the back of the bar, and was reclined back in his chair, with his top hat covering his face. Pretty soon the noise inside the bar became unbearable and the young shinigami decided to find somewhere else to relax.

As he made his way down one of the alleyways, Maxwell stopped dead in his tracks and blinked a couple times *did I really see that just now?* he thought while he rubbed his eyes, for a second he could have sworn he saw a black cat, use shunpo, was that even possible? Almost with in moments, Maxwell heard the voice of a kid yelling out kitty. Though Maxwell didn’t really want to go see what was going on, he found himself making his way to the rooftops. Upon reaching the roof of the nearby building, he looked over to see a very young shinigami boy, dive at the cat.

“hey what are you doin to that cat?” he yelled out, from his tone of voice, he really didn’t care to get much into detail about what was going on.

Yoruichi continued to peer up at the pitch black sky, wondering if the moon would come out of the clouds. She finally saw it, peeking in and out of the dark blue clouds. It slightly gave away the cat's position on the roof, causing her luminous golden eyes to twinkle. Yoruichi doubted anyone saw her though, not that it mattered. After all, if someone suspected that a innocent black cat was a former captain, they'd probably be called loony. Yoruichi chuckled sllightly at her mental remark despite the fact she was unable to locate her comrades. Her thin, pointy ears stood on end as she felt a presence enter the area she was in.

Yoruichi yawned slightly, continuing to groom her paws. She felt it get closer, and closer, and closer. Finally, she heard the loud shrieks of the word Kitty. Yoruichi slowly turned around to face the male, blinking slightly as thin arms latched onto her. He yelled kitty two or three more times, then started petting her. Yoruichi was a bit surprised. He only looked about 12, yet he seemed hyper and enthusiastic about seeing the little inconspicious black cat. "It must've been that moonlight.........he saw my eyes dammit." Yoruichi thought, slightly grumpy as the male started rubbing his nose against hers.

She sighed and began purring, sitting in the young male's arms. She would betray her status as a shinigami, but she would if it meant avoiding death by hugging. The young male's pressure was somewhat strong, he was probably a seated officer. Yoruichi blinked and looked around the area, sensing another pressure. This one was considerably stronger than the young male who seemed infatuated with the idea of petting the cat. This one was....a captain. Her golden yellow eyes scanned the area, looking for any creature out in the open. None. Just the pressure.......so it was hiding itself then?

Hmm. Why was the presence hiding itself. She giggled slightly in her mind as she thought about why. Maybe he was a peeping tom? Yoruichi's thoughts switched back to reality as another presence entered the area. Another shinigami? Why had her lonely area gotten so popular, she thought with a slight scowl. This presence felt like another seated officer. Yoruichi heard the new presence yell at what the young male was doing with the cat. She thought it would look a bit obvious that he was snuggling the cat. She sighed, letting the young male shinigami snuggle her. There was no need to give away her status.

Kyoshiro smiled as he petted the cat. He found it on an animal would be in the Seireitei, but he didn't care, he now had a kitty to keep him company. He felt the presence of two shinigami approaching, but kept to his childish acting. It wasn't long after he sensed the presences that he heard a voice, clearly speaking to him. Kyoshiro looked up, seeing another shinigami looking down at them.

Kyoshiro smiled innocently and held up the cat, it's belly facing the shinigami with his hands under its armpits. "I'm playing with Boo!" he said happily. Boo was what he decided to call the little kitty. "Boo is my new bestest friend! Wanna play too?! We can all play together!" said Kyoshiro, placing the cat back down. He began stroking the cat's back, feeling the way it vibrated as it purred. The cat's fur was so soft, he loved it!

As soon as Tenrai found a location to hide, his reaitsu decreases slightly and slightly until it seems that it almost fully faded away. When he heard the boy playing with the cat he slammed his palm to his forehead...Had he really traveled all this way to see a boy play with a cat..why was a cat even in the Seireitei anyway...wait a cat??? Tenrai thought about this for a second...he heard about a cat being in the Soul Society before but he couldnt remember why or where...he just remained hidden as he pondered on what he was thinking on.

Maxwell looked at the boy and listened to his response, only to have a bored expression appear on his face. The young shinigami then took a seat in front of the boy and cat and let out a yawn, so long as Maxwell didn’t have to do anything he was cool. He looked at the cat occasionally, wondering if it was the same one that he saw use shunpo…..was his mind really still on that? Maxwell shook his head free of the images and just relaxed. “so what squad are you in kid?” he asked.

Yoruichi sighed, yet continued to purr as to not betray her catty cover. She truly had no idea why she was keeping such a thing a secret, as it's not like she was no longer allowed in the Soul Society. Yoruichi just.....didn't want it to be highly known. Her honey golden eyes glimmered as she looked up at the moon, which would occasionaly disappear behind the clouds. She huffed slightly, aggravated by the fact that the weather had been so terrible lately. Cloudy skies, high winds, tons of raining. Some streets in the Seireitai were practically flooded.

The sounds of footsteps, along with the second spiritual pressure approaching caused her to frown slightly. My my, wasn't she just the popular one tonight? The cat meowed in protest as she's picked by the young man, her tummy facing the pressure. The second pressure bore a small resemblance to her friend Urahara. It wasn't the hair, but it was the mischevious twinkle in the boys eyes. Yoruichi didn't know. She was probably just too tired or aggravated or somethin'. Her right eye twitched when she heard the young boy call her Boo-san. How did she earn that nickname?

"Well........he's certaintly one imaginative kid...." Yoruichi thought, snickering. Yoruichi payed little attnetion once the boy continued on, something about playing together and friends. Her focus was on that strong pressure. Though it seemed like it was decreasing, and decreasing. Her eyes widened before narrowing into a suspicious glare, finally catching on to what was going on. "Dammit.....such a sneaky presence you are.....uhh, whoever you are." She thought awkardly. Yoruichi was determined to find our sneaky watcher, but first she would have a bit of fun with the boy. She smacked the childish boy with her paw before clawing onto his shoulders.

Just as she passed by him with a flashstep, she said the words "Boo-san, huh?" as if to ponder aloud the nickname. Yoruichi used another flashstep, feeling the pressure decrease. One more towards it, then she noticed it had fully disappeared. Yoruichi hissed loudly, getting more annoyed. But.........something caught her eye. In her peripherals, she could see a shadow. Yoruichi took this chance to flashstep behind it and glared at the figure. It seemed as if she had found her target. She tilted her head to the side, looking at it. Her mind wondered why the shinigami was spying on the small group.

Kyoshiro was about to answer Maxwell when the cat's paw suddenly hit him. Then he felt the slight sting as its claws stung his shoulder. He blinked and looked down at it, seeing a small amount of blood. Then the cat disappeared. "Oh fun. Time to play," said Kyoshiro, a mischievous look in his eyes. "I'm sorry. I'll be right back. Oh, and I'm Kyoshiro Mebu, Third Seat of Division Eleven," said Kyoshiro as he watched the cat flashstep once more.

Kyoshiro used flashstep as well, silently following the cat. This cat definitely wasn't some ordinary cat if it was able to move that fast. Kyoshiro was going to have very much fun playing with it. Kyoshiro flash stepped a few more times, noticing its path was heading toward the direction he previously sensed the high reiatsu before it disappeared. Kyoshiro saw the cat when it finally stopped moving. He waited for a second, careful not to give away his presence just yet, even though he let his reiatsu stay normal.

Tenrai remained out of sight as he thought why did a cat and flash step seem to ring bells to him. He looked up and noticed that the cat performed a flash step and he raised an eyebrow...well the cat definately wasnt a regular one. Tenrai then noticed the cat turned in his direction and seemed to be moving towards him. He narrowed his eyes...this cat must have sensed him before he reduced his reaitsu. Regardless, Tenrai wasnt going to let some cat just expose him like that. He too also did a flashstep disappeared, moving nearby to another shadow. He movements were fast and more important stealthy...he was well trained in the way of shunpo.

He kept his eyes on the cat and the two boys following it. He wasnt ready to reveal himself...but it was weird...this entire scenario just seemed weird to him. A cat lurking around his barracks and performing flash steps?? Just the thought had him wondering

Maxwell had decided to lay back on the roof top and gaze up at the ugly sky, he then heard the boy speak, the first words were lost in his lack of caring, but he did catch the young boys name and rank, sort of like a selective hearing that Max had developed. Maxwell sat up at the distinct sound of a flash step, as he rose, he found himself staring at nothing. *where did that kid run off to in such a hurry?* he thought to himself as he let out a yawn. Then, almost as if being hit by lightning, Maxwell’s eyes shot open as he remembered the flash stepping cat.

Maxwell stood up and looked around at his surroundings, his emerald colored eyes scanned the roof tops for their targets. Eventually the young shinigami caught sight of the boy, let out another yawn “here we go.” he said to himself as he stretched out a bit, then in a flash, Maxwell as off and following after the boy and cat.

Yoruichi began to smirk slightly at her game of cat and mouse with the unknown presence. Her smirk disappeared to reveal a grimace as she approached the shadow. There was no figure here anymore, whoever it was had probably used a flashstep or some speed trick. Why was he....or she....purposely avoiding the group? It perplexed Yoruichi as to why such a high pressure hide from a little kitty. She wouldn't show it in her vocal tone or her expressions, but she was a tiny bit mad. Yoruichi sighed shortly before calming herself. She didn't need to get so worked up about something so small. Yoruichi briefly caught the echo of the boy's voice, as the area around them was silent. All she picked up was the boy's first name, Kyoshiro.

The smirk was still not there as she looked over her tiny feline shoulder at the young boy following her. Yoruichi shook her head and chuckled. Was the young boy attempting to hide his position? She turned around completely, striding towards the young boy. It was time to formally introduce herself to him and the others. It was more than likely her flashstep had given her away, not that she cared. If the speedy black cat wanted to keep herself perfectly hidden, she could've done so, quite flawlessly too. She slowly groomed the back of her paw, staring up at the young kid. "Well hello.....nice to meet you, Kyoshiro. Next time we talk, if we do....i'd prefer if you didn't cuddle me to the point of suffocation." Yoruichi joked, chuckling playfully at his hyper attitude.

Her deep male would hide the fact she was a female, but it didn't matter. She yawned, lazily walking towards the young male. There was no need for her to be serious all the time, she was just irritated with the hidden presence she was so determined to find. She watched as the other male presence followed the young boy. Yoruichi wondered if he heard her speak, betting that it was more likely than not. Her golden eyes stared straight at the second man, narrowing slightly at him. It wasn't a glare, just a slight suspicious stare. Yoruichi sighed, using one more flashstep to get up and sit on the young boy's shoulder. She peered over at the boy's other shoulder and sighed.

It was bleeding a small bit from her sharp claws, though she had no intentions to hurt him. Just to gently smack him and make her dramatic flashstep. "Is your shoulder fine?" Yoruichi asked him reluctantly. She wasn't the best at comforting people, but she knew when to apologize and when to be quiet. In this case, she took the former route, as she didn't mean to scratch the kid's shoulder up. Yoruichi was still kinda aggravated about the presence that was most likely spying on them. Her cat form wasn't the most ideal for finding people, and with both exhaustion and hunger in her corner, it was safe to say she wasn't at her best right now. She wanted her good ol' Human form right around now, maybe some rice or noodles, and to find out the fates of her friends.

Kyoshiro wasn't perturbed by the talking cat, in fact, he seemed like he knew it all along. Even though he didn't. Kyoshiro just smiled at the kitty and then looked at it as she appeared on his shoulder. "No worries Boo. It's fine. It's going to take a lot more than a simple scratch to hurt me," said Kyoshiro, smiling at Boo-san. Kyoshiro reached up and began scratching the cat under her chin, down her neck a little.

Tenrai was slowly started to become more and more curious about the magical, talking, flash stepping cat. He decided that hiding from such a creature now seemed more foolish than anything. He slowly walked out of the shadows and towards the group. He had his hands in his pockets and he gave off a puzzled, almost confused look towards the cat. He walked up to the cat seemingly ignoring the others and looked down at it and raised an eyebrow. "Now I know I've heard about a talking, flash stepping cat before...I just don't know where", Tenrai spoke to the cat. He then squatted down and looked at it closely. "So whats your real name kitty??", he asked the cat.

It was a little while before Maxwell appeared in front of the small group. Though the young shinigami and the flash stepping cat had grabbed his attention, Maxwell was in no hurry to catch up with them, besides, he had managed to keep his gaze on the young kid, and was able to spot them quickly.

As Maxwell came out of his final flash step, he heard the cat talk and arched a brow *did that cat just speak?* he thought, he was about to open his mouth when he saw the captain. Maxwell immediately bowed to the captain “good evening Captain” he said, before straightening out.

Yoruichi raised an eyebrow at the young boy's nonchalant attitude towards her...unique talents. She wondered why she didn't recieve the typical "What?! A talking cat?!" routine like she usually did. Though to be fair, there were some people who weren't disturbed by her cat form's advantages. Yoruichi chuckled quietly as the boy said it would take more than a scratch to harm him, leading Yoruichi to believe he was indeed a decently ranked officer. She easily solidified her place on the boy's shoulder, purring her he gently scratched her chin. The young boy seemed very calm and kind....but too calm for Yoruichi to be comfortable around. It was an eerie calm.....as if something was a bit off.

She shook the feeling from her mind, as the boy didn't deserve her criticism. Yoruichi hissed slightly as a shadow caught her eye, standing perfectly still on Kyoshiro's shoulder. It was the presence, wasn't it? Ha, it was finally revealing itself. Her eyes watched every move of the figure as it revealed itself, noting that it was a young man with blonde hair. More importantly, her measurement of the spiritual pressure that was flowing from hiim earlier was correct. The man was a captain, as confirmed by the classic white and black Haori. Every captain wore one, it was a traditional sign of their noble leadership. Yoruichi somewhat wondered which division the man commanded over, though she'd be a polite little kitten and find out on her own soon enough.

She began to remember the days when she used to where the Haori, when she used to talk with Soifon and joke around with Urahara. Things had changed so much since then, it was almost painful looking back into the past and the memories it held. Yoruichi sighed, clearing the thoughts from her mind. She refused to sit there and mope around, dwelling on the past. She refocused her attention on the man, who was know talking about the news of the amazing black cat in Seireitai. Yoruichi smirked brightly as he leaned down closer to her, almost as if the man was examining the little kitten. She chuckled as he asked for her name, pondering whether she should tell them or not. If she did, it was likely they would somewhat recognize her. After all, she was a bit legendary for her dashing escape alongside Kisuke, Tessai, and the Vizards.

Yoruichi quickly leapt down from Kyoshiro's shoulder, using a flashstep mid-air to get a few feet away from the group. She looked up at the moon and yawned, before turning around to face them. Her eyes scanned over each Shinigami, smirking again. "It looks as if i've gained quite a bit of notoriety as the mysterious black cat of the Seireitai. But, I think I have a much more...honorable...reputation that most, if not all of you, know of." Yoruichi announced calmly, undertones of pride and mystery in her voice. She turned her back to the group, beginning to walk away. "Those who would like to continue to talking, follow me...." Yoruichi exclaimed, the tone of her voice a slight order. Of course they would follow, who wouldn't want to discover the lovely talking, flashstepping black cats secret?

Kyoshiro looked over the two shinigami. He smiled as the one from earlier showed up. Kyoshiro was glad he showed up. He then looked over at the Captain. "Ah, Division Two, Captain Tenrai. What an honor to see you again. Are you going to play with us too?" said Kyoshiro as he bowed slightly, smiling childishly at the captain. Kyoshiro was surprised to see the Captain out and about at this time of night, though he wasn't really curious as to why.

Kyoshiro looked at Boo-san when he started speaking. "Hmm? Boo-san! Don't leave! We still have to play!" said Kyoshiro, running after Yoruichi. Kyoshiro didn't much care as to who she was. He just wanted to play with the cat. Tetsu thought a cat that could use shunpo would be really fun to play with.

Tenrai raised an eyebrow the cat and then decided to follow it...to here what it wanted to tell him.

This whole evening was turning into a job, it started with looking for the flash stepping, now talking cat, it then turned into a game of tag, as Maxwell had to track both of them down when they ran off, and now he the cat told them to follow if they were interested to know as to why it could talk. At this point, Maxwell just didn’t care, he was to lazy to care, and to lazy to continue with this wild goose chase. Seeing this as the perfect opportunity to disappear, Maxwell turned around and walked in the opposite direction.
