Meeting the 13th division captain

It was a rather bright and humid day in the Siereitei footsteps could be heard pounding from the floor boards around the 13th division. The beat of the steps wasn't too hurried nor was it in a dilly dally beat meaning that this man whom was making the steps was either out for a stroll or on some kind of business for which he needed to attend too. The steps grew slower as the man dressed in white and black stopped at the entrance of a Coy pond glancing out only reminded him of the past as the sun's rays were reflecting off it's surface. placing and hand on zanpaktou which rested at his hip as he looked out only one word fluttered through his mind a girl from the past he knew ...Yoake... his icy blue eyes scanned around hearing other people laugh and pass him by instead of chasing after them he remained quiet and sighed leaning at a wooden post that held up the shaded walk way hearing a door opening his eyes cut back only too see a fellow shinigami standing behind in in his uniform which was colored black unlike his own.

The man behind him spoke gruffly and with a slight note of irritation. So your the new Vice captain are you....our captain is waiting to see you...Please do come on in. The man nodded and slightly retreated from his spot and walked in to his a man with a captains haroi on. The man spoke softly but a serious tone. Hello Captain, I am Soren Kiyomeru your new Vice captain of squad 13 it is a pleasure to finally meet you. The man named Soren made a small bow and looked as his captain rising up to his original position.

Yachiru sighed quietly as she sat at her desk. Kenpachi was nowhere to be found and she had a stack of paperwork that piled to the sky. She exhaled slowly and began to shuffle through her papers until she found a rather interesting notice. She picked up the document and read it, her eyes widening as a squeal of excitement passed her soft pink lips. She was getting a new Vice Captain today and she didn't even remember. She quickly shoved all the unfinished paperwork into a desk drawer, the pink haired female working quickly to tidy up her office. Just as she got it looking satisfactory enough, a knock came to her office door. She turned quickly to find a member of her division escorting a young male in. She smiled politely as he introduced himself as Soren Kiyomeru. Yachiru looked into the male's glacial blue hues, her own deep pink orbs lighting up with excitement. She giggled and leaped forward, seizing the male in a friendly hug. She could tell that this guy was all business. Not for long. Yachiru finally released the hug and introduced herself. Hiya, Ren-Ren Fukutaicho! I'm Yachiru Kusajishi. Your new Captain! Welcome, welcome Welcooome! Yachiru's child like demeanor could put a smile on even the most depressed person on the planet. She was always so cheerful, it was actually sickening to most. Nothing ever got the girl down, especially now that Kenpachi was back.

Yachiru took a few steps back, brushing a lock of bubblegum pink hair from her eyes as she sat atop her desk. She looked over at Soren, giving him another sweet smile. Any questions I might be able to answer, Ren-Ren? Yachiru didn't waist any time giving the man a nickname. She gave everyone a nickname, even Hiyro-Taicho. Now all Yachiru had to do was wait and see how the male reacted. She was sure that he didn't expect to find a petite young woman like Yachiru as the captain of the thirteenth division. She had a feeling he'd be pretty surprised to say the least.

Soren was moderately surprised to be seized in the hug and he patted her back he had heard rumors of Yachiru Kusajishi being the captain of the 13th division but he never would have believed the rumor until now and he noted how he was called 'Ren-Ren' which was fine by him as he peered into her pink eyes seeing excitement. More then likely due to her having a new Vice-captain he spoke again Nice to meet you Kusajishi Taicho. A small smile cracked through the the lack of emotion on his face.

When she asked if he had any questions for Soren since he just joined the squad he merely shook his head no he knew what was needed of him and he sighed Captain is there a mission or anything you would like me to perform?

Yachiru blinked for a moment when the man asked about a mission. Come to think of it, she hasn't assigned any missions lately. She thought for a moment and leapt down from her desk. She looked up at Soren and giggled. Hmm.....mission......I don't think I have any lined up for a while. All patrols are done for now.....why not relax with me and get comfortable in your new division! Yachiru. Smiled and patted the man's shoulders with her small hands before walking towards a small table. In the center of the table was a basket of cookies that Kenpachi gave her. she gigled and took two from the basket. She placed one in her mouth, offering Soren ether other.

Soren looked at the cookie that had been offered to him and he took it and sighed That's alright captain I don't want to be a bother I knowhow it is to be around someone that doesn't know you and is weaker most people think of them to be nothing of a insect which to you and him I am I mean you understand right a man that couldn't protect his friends is now you vice captain....hmph good luck with that captain... Soren hated when people were just going to treat him good just because of his rank personality if it was up to him he wouldn't allowed himself to even reach 3rd seat why did the siereitei choose him to promote anyway?

Yachiru lightly sighed as Soren spoke. Did he really think that she was only nice to him because of his rank? Yachiru wasn't that kind of person and everynody knew that. She took a step towards Soren, and then hugged him once again before speaking in that kind tone of voice known best by her. You're not bothering me at all, Ren-Ren. In fact, I'm glad you came to se me, because I was looking forward to meeting you. I enjoy new friends and not just because of their rank. You will coke to learn that, here in my division, everyone gets equal respect, no matter the rank. I don't treat anyone as if hey are inferior, just because I am the captain. To me, you are my equal and my friend. Is that clear, Soren? Yachiru gave him another dart smile as she released the hug, then turned back towards the basket of cookies. She took out two more, placing one in her mouth while shoving the other in Soren's mouth. She giggled and ate her cookie while awaiting Soren's reactions to her words.

Soren slightly flared his reiatsu not in a threatening way more in a way to create space he didn't like to be touched especially ever since that incident had happened but after hearing her speak he sighed and looked at her his eyes had a slightly distant look refusing to her meet hers eye to eye was he hiding something she needed to know about or that she need whatever it was he was shamed by it enough not to want to look at his own captain in the face. He spoke his voice was slightly quiet as his memories melded in with this confession. I'm sorry captain....I want you to know I am not all that strong....Back when I was at the academy I was friends with two fellow shinigami and....eventually one defected from the siereitei performing hideous crimes....but before he a man named Sieryu defected....killed a person I lived in the Rukongai and helped me train with a sword for a little bit....and he killed her because I wasn't able to protect her I was too weak.... Soren sighed his head dropping reminding himself of the memories he hated himself for it nothing else mattered al he had was a deep hatred of himself for killing her that familiar feeling arose in his chest.

....I killed her captain...I was unable to protect Yoake and she died for it otherwise she'd would be here as your lieutenant not me anyways I....wanted you to know that about me to show you you have a murderer in your ranks.... Soren's voice remained quiet and he piped in again. ....I promise if you are persistant on still having me here I won't let anything happen to your squad captain...I promised....and I always keep them...

Yachiru wasn't phased by Soren's sudden flare in his reiatsu. She lightly sighed, wondering if she went too far with the hug. She then listened as he began to speak. His words struck a chord in her heart. He told her about his past, his story bringing tears to her eyes. This poor boy. So much pain for one so young. She didn't care about what he had done in the past. It wasn't going to change the joy she felt with having a new lieutenant. She smiled softly, wiping her tears from her eyes before speaking while she dug through her desk drawer. Now now, Ren-Ren. We're all killers and murderers in some way. Just look at Ken-chan! I don't care about all that. It doesn't matter as long as you are still willing to protect this division and the Soul Society like you say. And you couldn't possibly be weak if you were placed as my Lieutenant. Ro-Ro sotaicho knows I'm picky. Ah! Here it is! Yachiru giggled and pulled her division's Lieutenant badge from her desk drawer. There was a piece of butterscotch candy stuck to the badge. She squeaked and plucked it off, wiping the sticky residue off before handing the badge to Soren. You're my Lieutenant now, Ren-Ren, rather you like it or not! She giggled again and patted his head playfully.

Captain....you don't think I'm weird for telling you that...? Soren saw that she was reaching for the 13th division lieutenants badge and picked something off of it and handed it too him and he looked at it and back at his captain feeling a tinge of pride and new excitement. Thank you captain I won't let this squad down I'll protect it even if it mean sacrificing myself to protect you and it's members! Soren didn't know quite what to do with the badge and it reminded him of Yoake and he sighed Catain one last question on that subject ummm do you think she has forgiven me....after all I did get her killed because I refused to believe the normal.....

Yachiru smiled as she watched the man's disposition make a complete one-eighty. She liked seeing her division mates happy. She giggled as he spoke, then leaned over and lightly patted his head. Good to hear, good to hear! I'm glad you are willing to protect and serve! And no, I don't think you're weird. Believe me, I've seen weirder... Yachiru smiled and hopped back onto the top of her desk, sitting comfortably, her legs kicking back and forth. She then heard Soren speak again, his words bringing out a more serious, softer side. She lightly smiled and stood back up, walking to the boy. She took the lieutenant's badge from his hands and proceeded to tie it around the upper part of his left arm while she began to speak. You can never hate someone you truly love...this means that forgiving them is mush easier than forgiving any ol' person. In other words, Soren...I know she has forgiven you. I know that for a fact. She smiled and tied the badge tight to ensure it wouldn't fall off, then took a step back. It was times like this that made Yachiru look more grown up. She gave Soren a soft smile before sitting back atop her desk.

A smile appeared on Soren's face and he nodded his knowing what to do. Thinking now he couldn't let his squad down they were like a family and he had to protect them now and he sighed wondering what she needed him to do. Captain is there anything you wish for me to do?

Yachiru smiled. This boy was always out for a mission or work. She shrugged a bit and leaned backwards on her desk, tugging the drawer open. She removed a stack of papers from the drawer before closing it and sitting back up. You and I have looooaads of paperwork to do, so let's just do it together, kay'? She giggled and hopped off of her desk, then pushed an extra chair up to her desk. She then took her seat and began to sort through her own stack of papers while placing a pen on Soren's stack.

Soren looked at the paperwork she pulled out of her desk for a split second Soren thought he was going to have to do that all by himself and he laughed to himself a bit rubbing the back of his head then when she said lets do it together he smiled and nodded sitting by the captain grabbing the first sheet and looked at it looking for a pen and he looked at his captain. Errm you don't have to do this with me if you have other business to attend to I don't to be a hassle soo it's okay!

Soren said as politely as possible with as much enthusiam for the paper work which he didn't mind doing but whatever as he began reading the sheet of paper.

Yachiru giggled when Soren told her that he'd handle the paperwork if she had more important matters to attend to. In truth, she had been slacking off on paperwork too much. She needed to get it done. She smiled and reached over, lightly patting Soren's head before speaking. I don't mind, Ren-Ren! It's okay! This'll be a lot more fun with the two of us doing it together, ne? She smiled and began to scribble down writing on a document while sorting through other papers with her free hand.

Soren felt her patting his head like he was a dog oor some other pet and he sighed Very well captain. Soren began working on the paper work and he sighed grabbing sheet after sheet quietly looking at them reading them carefully and writing and signing his name. Soren had a mini stack going over by him when he stopped and began to rub his eyes looking around he sighed and looked at Yachiru. So captain.... Soren couldn't think of anything to talk about or where to start almost he felt stupid for trying to start up a conversation that he didn't have any idea where it would lead too then he figured he would ask what she liked to do for fun. Errm What do you like to do for fun?

Yachiru blinked and glanced up at Soren when he addressed her, then smiled slightly when he asked her what she liked to do for fun. What didn't she like to do? She giggled and sat her pen down for a moment and reclined a bit in her chair while blowing a lock of hair out of her face. I like to do a lot of things for fun, Ren-Ren. I like to eat, train, bug Ken-Chan, and spend time with my division mates! And please, you can call me Yachiru! Yachiru giggled and reached a hand into her haori pocket, taking out a butterscotch lollipop. She upwrapped it and popped it into her mouth, letting out a groan of satisfaction the moment she tasted the sweet butterscotch flavor. She tossed the wrapper into a wastepaper basket next to her desk and sat up while sucking on the lollipop. She seemed so childish, yet at the same time, she breathed the essence of a Captain. What about you, Ren-Ren? What do ya do for fun when I give you time off? She smiled and filled out a few more papers, adding them to the stack of completed papers. Half way there now.

Soren sighed looking at thexaptain making the shot into the trash can and kept working things about things he liked to do which he didn't know the answer all he ever thought about was revenge and to get stronger for the next conflict with Sieryu he didn't understand this how could she be so happy despite what was going on around them Soren looked down and was thinking up something to make up the whole converstation thing was a bad idea that was when he heard a tiny voice in his head was it Fennikusu? Soren... Why do you obsess on revenge we agree to if at possible help purify the malicious hate yet that you cannot do when you are consumed by it yourself...there is a priority between your duty and your personal feelings do not let your feeling get in the way of what you must do... Unless you know what you are doing his correct in your heart...do you understand? The voice quickly fell silent and left Soren's thoughts to himself muttering to himself and looking outside Thanks Fennikusu.....

Snapping out his daze Soren looked over at his captain and turned a little red he just spoke to his zanpaktou but to her all heard him say was the thank you part and him staring outside like a moron. Quickly trying avert the situation he answered her question Ah well training aounds quite fun to me plus just taking things slow and enjoying the people I have met in my life I mean everyday is worth living right?! Soren put a smile on his face and had a little twitch in his eye as his voice was rushed.

Yachiru blinked when she heard the boy mutter Fennikusu. Could it be the boy's Zanpakuto's name. A wide grin pulled at the corners of her lips. Is your Zanpakuto spirit a phoenix by any chance? Fire based? Yachiru couldn't believe it. If he, too, had a phoenix for a spirit, then Moumoku Mayonare Fushichou would have a new friend. Yachiru giggled happily when she saw hi turn red. It was cute. He tried to take her mind off of what she saw by answering her question. She chuckled a bit and nodded slightly. Right-o, Ren-Ren! That's a good way to look at things! She smiled and finished the last bit of her stack of papers, sorting them into respective categoried. She clipped each small stack with a paperclip, then put then all into one big stack at the upper left corner of her desk. She glanced back at Soren. She was interested in seeing his zanpakuto now. Perhaps a little spar.
