Perhaps her life would have been different hadn't her mother died while giving birth to her. Perhaps if she had been born in a different era, in a different place, then Chiharu would have had a normal childhood. Been able to run around with other children, gossip with girls her own age, crush on boys. But then again, this story isn't about the feminine girl Chiharu could have been. This story is about the strong willed and brave Chiharu which seemed perfectly fine with however she was brought up.~ Birth - 10 years old. ~
Being born as the daughter of a Samurai around the year of 1755 was not a good sign for the howling infant. Her mother never woke up after having brought the new life into this world, so the rather strict and ambitious Hayate was left to deal alone with the upbringing of his daughter. Hayate was a proud Samurai who did not agree with the ideas of how the country was run. He amongst others were a part of a small group called "the Snakes", where they met once in a week and reported on spying they had made or any type of new information. For they had plans to overthrow the rules and regulations. Being forced to throw down their swords just to become some obedient peasants was not something any honorable Samurai should have been able to live by.
Hayate's best friend, Masane, was also a part of this group. He had a son named Shin which was 5 years old when Chiharu was born. The grief of losing his wife didn't make it easy for Hayate to take care of his child, so she was also a lot in Masane's household where she got properly taken care of. But as she reached the age of 3, it was as if Hayate had woken up from a slumber. Looking at his young daughter, he could see that she was the spitting image of her mother. The same delicate features, raven black hair and last but not least those eyes of hers. It was a wonder to see the ruby red color of her eyes. People often wondered if she had some sort of a disease in her eyes, but on the contrary then her eyesight didn't seem to have any flaw to it. The young Chiharu adored Shin, who was then 8 years old and seemed to be going to become a true heartbreaker with his sparkling green eyes and dark brown hair. The children seemed to look at each other like brother and sister, and it truly warmed their fathers hearts to see such strong friendship and bonding. But there was something which didn't settle well with Masane. For some strange reason then Hayate seemed to be bringing his daughter up like a boy. Cutting her hair always short and making her wear boy's clothing as she tumbled around in the dirt while playing with Shin.
"Hayate, what are you thinking? This is a young girl you are raising, not a boy." Masane put his sake cup harshly down on the table as if to give a more dramatic effect to his words, as he looked at his childhood friend. Hayate's gaze slid away from Masane while he didn't seem to feel very affected by his friend's words.
"This is a tough world Masane. It wont do her any good to be brought up like some doll. My daughter is not going to become some whore for those damned emperial guards." His fists clenched at his side while he spat the words out with anger.
"But does that justify trying to go against her gender? Aren't you taking away from her a normal upbringing by doing that?" Hayate glared slightly at Masane, seemingly annoyed by the questions being bombarded at him.
"And what is normal? Is it normal to drop our swords and become peasants? Should I hand her a doll and tell her to go play with it in ignorance while the Emperor keeps taking our lands and what is rightfully ours? No. I refuse to do that." He stood swiftly up, pacing around on the floor. Masane sighed and looked down at his drink. He knew there wasn't any use arguing with Hayate when he had his mind set on something, and in a way he agreed with him. But to raise the girl as a boy. Wasn't that taking things too far? Another sigh left him as he looked gravely at Hayate.
"Very well, but don't take this too far."And so, the years slid foward. When Chiharu was 7 years old she was already getting a teaching in swordmanship while also being homeschooled. Her father didn't want her to miss out on any type of education. She remained dressed as a boy, had her hair cut regularly, and mostly spent her time at home or with Shin. They sparred together between small games, but their favorite thing was to race against each other. They could run around for whole days, making their parents wonder just where all that energy came from. Naturally the 12 year old Shin beat Chiharu, but she always demanded a rematch.
"Aren't you going to give up soon? You know you are plenty of years too early in trying to beat me!" His white teeth were flashed in a smile while Shin watched the pouting 7 year old girl. Her red eyes shot flames towards him as she crossed her arms.
"Again!" The boy let out a soft groan while rubbing his forehead.
"Come on Chi-chan, 5 races for today is enough." Chiharu's eyes narrowed a bit, since Shin insisted on calling her Chi-chan no matter how many times she told him not to.
"Baka Shin!" Her foot stomped on the ground before she ran off to blow some steam.
"Seriously, you have way too much temper Chi-chan!" Shin yelled after her while laughing and shaking his head a bit.
Her 8th birthday passed, and as she reached her 9th year Hayate felt it was time to talk to his daughter. Sitting her down, he explained to her what it was he was truly doing every once a week when he went on a meeting. Despite being only 9 years old, Chiharu was very mature and intelligent, so she listened silently to her father speaking. He had trained her well ever since she was 6 years old and also made sure she was aware of everything that happened around her. Truly he was bringing her up like the son he would never have.
~ 10 - 15 years old. ~
It was Chiharu's deepest wish to become one of the group, and so she did her best when training. She never slacked off and strove towards impressing her father and the other around them. It didn't seem it ever made her feel bad to have the outer appearance of a boy, rather she seemed to steer clear of everything that had any type of feminity to it. But wether that was because of her true wishes or simply the need to please her father, remained unknown. After she had become 12 years old, she had proven to be well worthy of joining the group. But it wasn't something simple, as she was still too young. So Hayate waited. He kept training her, kept educating her, kept brainwashing her with his own ideas of how the world should be. It wasn't something he had really planned to do, but yet.. that was how it came to. Young Chiharu had blind faith in her father and would have followed anything he said within a heartbeat. And as Masane was also a father image to her, she longed for nothing more than to be able to join the group. She knew that Shin had already gotten to join in, but however much she questioned him about the process, he just brushed her questions off. It wasn't something she should know yet, but according to his words it would happen soon enough.
And indeed, when she reached the age of 15, Chiharu got the mark. The tattoo which was the group's symbolism. Even if it stung and made her grit her teeth, Chiharu felt happier than ever. This way she was more connected to those she loved the most. Now she could truly start to help her father in getting his dreams fulfilled, and now she could also compete with Shin about which one of them got the worthier tasks. Of course, she only started by running errands and fetching not so important things. But still she was helping. And that was all that mattered to her. But what happened also when she reached the age of 15, was that her body along with her mind started changing. Feeling a bit frightened at those changes she was going through, Chiharu started wrapping bandages tightly around her chest while wearing bulky clothes which would hide what was happening with her body. After all those years of being raised as a boy, it felt a bit harsh to be reminded all of the sudden that you were indeed a female.
And what was more, she started to look differently at Shin. Even though to her frustration he only seemed to view her as his little sister whom he could tease and compete against. Little did she know that he had also noticed the change in her, and also how her eyes started changing each time she looked at him. But he was already 20 years old, and felt that she was far too young to be having these sorts of feelings. And he certainly shouldn't kindle under them.
~ 15 - 18 years old. ~
Upon reaching her 16th year, Chiharu was starting to run more serious errands. There was a bit of a conflict inside of the group against having such a young female be doing any serious tasks which could mean her execution along with theirs if she got caught. But Hayate along with Manase pushed the matter aside, saying she was proving far better than most the others when they had been her own age. A bit stingy, especially for those egotistical males, but it was the truth. And she did prove worthy of the trust as she completed all her tasks without ever getting caught. And so, she turned 17. And then things seemed to become a bit more serious. There was a word out about the group, and no one knew how that had happened. Fear of being caught made everyone a bit edgy, but they were not about to give up. There was also a small secret which was growing between Chiharu and Shin. Through the years, the sibling love between them had grown stronger and evolved into something more. Even if there had still nothing happened to them, then they both knew what was in their hearts. And one evening they met as if by chance out in the middle of a field. Even if Chiharu had very sneakily followed Shin and then pretended to bump into him.
"What are you doing out so late Chi-chan? It's dangerous." A small scoff came from her as she raised her chin up in a stubborn way.
"Haven't I told you to stop calling me that? And besides, what are you then doing out here if it's this dangerous?" The brown haired male let out a small sigh of defeat before he sat down on the ground and patted next to him. Feeling very eager to accept that offer, even if she felt a bit offended by his words, Chiharu sat down next to him. She could feel the slight warmth from his body next to hers, and a small smile played over her lips.
If I reach out my hand, I could probably touch him. "Look at how beautiful the sky is.." Obediently she raised her face upwards and watched the stars which twinkled above them.
"I heard father talking about your mission which is tomorrow. It's going to be dangerous, I know it since he wont allow me to come with." The male next to her stiffened a bit, before he lay back on the ground with his hands under his head. Chiharu mimicked his actions, and for a little while they just lay there in silence.
"I.. don't want to lose you." She whispered softly and bit on her lower lip to hold back a single tear which seemed to want to make it's way from her eye.
"Don't be silly. You wont ever lose me. She bit her teeth together, knowing he was not going to really tell her more about the mission nor how dangerous it was. After a few more minutes had passed, she let out a small sad sigh and started to sit up, when his voice made her go still.
"If you ever lose sight of me, then just look up at the sky and think of me. Then I'll be sure to get to you as soon as I can." "What kind of a stupid thing are you saying?" Her voice sounded a bit irritated as Chiharu sat up.
"You always just joke around." She started standing up, when a strong hold on her wrist made a small yelp escape before she fell backwards to the ground.
He was leaning a bit over her, making her throat get all dry and her voice was just a small peep as she tried to ask him what he was doing.
"For once, just stop talking you idiot." He smiled before leaning closer. She felt his warm breath against her face, before his lips touched hers lightly. Her breath got caught in her throat for a few seconds before her eyes closed slowly while his lips pressed again against hers. For a few minutes they just stayed there, kissing each other lightly, letting out the unsaid words of love in the kisses. Finally when Chiharu thought she would melt into the ground, Shin pulled a bit away and ran a single finger down her cheek.
"Get back home now. Swallowing a few times, she nodded weakly before getting somehow up and then made her way back to her house. The whole time while she was getting there, she played over and over in her head the scene when he kissed her.
The day after, all the males left. Naturally they had underestimated Chiharu's stubbornness as she followed them quietly after. They seemed to be moving rather deep into the city, making Chiharu wonder what was going on. Finally, the men came to a halt and gathered around in an alley.
Wait, where's Shin? A sudden presence behind her made Chiharu stiffen a bit, and she knew she had been found out.
"And just what do you think you can accomplish by doing such a foolish thing?" Her father glared at her, after she had been literally dragged to him by Shin who had discovered her presence.
"I just wanted to help." Her voice was barely audible, making her father lean a bit down towards her with a grim look on his face.
"We will discuss this better at home. Go. Now." A small groaning sound escaped her, but Chiharu knew better than starting an argument. With a small glare towards a rather amused Shin, she was going to start on her way, when a shouting caught her attention.
"The guards! The guards are here! We have been betrayed!" In the middle of the confusion, someone grabbed a hold of Chiharu. Her frightened eyes locked with Shin's emerald green and calm ones, as he pulled her back and pushed her into a crater which was barely big enough to fit her slender body in.
"Stay put and shut up. Before she managed to say anything or do anything, he had put a rather heavy lid over the crater before running towards where the fight had started. There were small holes in which she could peek out of, and a small whimper made it's way out as she saw how heavily outnumbered her friends were.
I have to get out! She scratched, pushed, kicked and yet remained stuck. Her fingernail broke, her skin ripped off on her hands and knees as she struggled around with fright in her heart. All but her father and Shin had been killed. And with a scream that tore at her throat, Chiharu watched as both the men she loved with all her heart fell down to the ground, their blood painting it red.
NO NO NO NO "Hey, I thought I heard something from over here.. The lid was taken off, and for a second Chiharu stared up at the face of one of the men who had taken everything away from her. And then everything just seemed to happen in slow motion. Before the guard managed to say anything, he found himself on his back with a person on top of him. And then he had gotten his own sword stabbed through his chest. With a scream of rage, sorrow and fright Chiharu stepped off of the first man she had ever killed. She had his sword still in her hand while watching with tear-filled eyes at the rest of the guards. Around 10 of them remained, all equally surprised at the beautiful young boy who stood before them. Since of course she was still dressed as a boy. And then the fight began. She attacked the nearest guard, driving him back with fierce slashes before she attacked the one at his side. With a small cry that guard fell dead to the ground, before she was already fighting the next one. Perhaps it was her anger that gave her such strength, but never had they seen such fierce fighting before.
However, she was outnumbered. And a loud scream erupted from the young girl as a slash was made at her chest. The blade left a rather big wound along her ribcage, and that seemed to have brought Chiharu back to her senses. With a loud sob, she started running. She didn't want to die, and yet she didn't want to live alone.
It hurts... dad... Shin.. She kept running while clutching to the wound at her side. On her running she encountered a guard, but a well aimed strike brought him down as she ducked into a new alley and hid there to catch her breath.
How many did I kill? 2? 3? Her side hurt, but her heart hurt more, as she leaned her head up against the wall and thought about the blood that had been spilled.
This day was far from being done. As soon as she had caught her breath, Chiharu had moved out of the alley and searched for a way out of the public area. And yet she engaged in more fights. Killed more guards. Felt something of her former self slip further and further away.
~ Her death. ~
There was little left of the former Chiharu. Even now, a week later, her hands were still soaked in the blood of others, and she didn't seem to be able to wash it away how many times she tried. She was alone, didn't have any purpose left to live. A Samurai, living in shame. The burning guilt over the lives she had taken seemed to follow her wherever she went. Whenever she tried to eat, the food turned into ash in her mouth, the water tasted like blood. She couldn't sleep, as whenever she closed her eyes, images of her father.. Shin.. all the men she had killed, started haunting her mind. Very slowly, the young girl was going insane. Perhaps she had already decided it was time, this particular day which she died. Casually walking through the town, not caring about those that saw her, not caring about the fact that there were Hinin (the town guards) all over the place.
"Hold it right there!" A demanding voice reached her ears, the petite girl which was clad in boy's clothing looked slowly up. A group of 5 Hinin stood before her, everything around them had gone silent. The wind ruffled against her short hair, tickling at the bare skin of her neck.
"You are Kameyo Chiharu aren't you? The girl with ruby eyes who dresses like a man, but is the whore of the traitorous Samurai's." Chiharu didn't flinch at the rude remark, but rather clenched her fists tightly while looking slowly from one man to the other.
"Hey, perhaps we should check if she is indeed a woman." They laughed, nudged at each other with their elbows, before drawing their swords.
"Just be a good girl and stand still there." The seemingly oldest of the group, a bearded man nearing his forties, licked his lips while letting his gaze travel over the girl in front of them.
"I don't believe it's true that she has really killed over 15 men. That petite little thing can probably barely hold a sword!" More laughing erupted from them, as they advanced a bit closer.
Originally, Chiharu hadn't really planned to give any fight if she would have gotten caught. But she couldn't help but feel small goosebumps run over her skin from the disgusting thought of those greedy hands on her.
I.. can't. Drawing in a deep breath, her hand went down to the hilt of her sheathed katana, while Chiharu seized up each of her opponents. The wound at her ribcage had not fully healed yet, but there was no pain to be detected in her movements as she flawlessly drew her katana with an expressionless face.
"Oh so the bitch thinks she can take us on huh? That will only make the fun better later on. I like them feisty." The bearded man which seemed to have the greatest deal of interest in her had spoken again, while circling around her like prey. And without any warning, he lunged forward. The tip of the blade was supposedly meant to have ripped up her clothing and possibly also wound her thigh so she wouldn't have as much free movement. But Chiharu stepped swiftly to the side, and with her free hand, caught grip of the man's blade. Now the pain in her hand wasn't really that much of a deal for her, and as blood dripped to the ground while the man stared in awe at the young girl he had planned originally to rape and then kill, she buried the blade of her katana into his chest.
As the thumping sound of his body reached his comrades ears, they seemed to be all as equally dumbstruck.
"You bitch!" Two of them charged forward, and their blades clashed with hers as they all started dancing on the ground, locked in the tight grip of the battle. Chiharu's left hand wouldn't do her any good now, but yet she was guarding against the blows, and then striking at them like a venomous snake. The wound at her ribcage was starting to throb, and she felt the blood trickle down and soak her cloathing. It wouldn't be long until she lost some of her strength. Not long until she could see her beloved father and Shin again. The other two males had joined in, and for just a few minutes, the people around watched in awe as the small girl seemingly had control of the fight. But then, her arm raised a bit too much in the air, her strike faltered as the wound tore more open. And just at that moment, she felt the small sting of a blade going through her stomach. It pierced right through. And yet she found it weird how little pain she felt. Maybe it was the adrenalin, or maybe she was just too numbed up from her other wounds.
Her knees shook a bit as she took a step forward and killed another guard. His eyes had barely closed when another blade made it's way to her back and slashed down it. Chiharu's lips opened a bit as her eyes half closed, but no sound came out of her. She just sunk down to her knees, still having her katana in her hand. Still having that other blade pierced through her. And then she smiled, tilted her head upwards, and looked at the clear blue sky.
Watching.. the sky..for you... A whoosh in the air, and everything turned black.
When Chiharu had opened her eyes again, she was laying on the ground near where she had gotten killed. However there was no one there. Blinking a few times, she wondered if she had survived what had just happened.
What's going on.. that should have killed me.. Glancing down, a slightly startled expression entered her face as she spotted a rather large chain which came out of her chest. It was very disturbing to say the least, and it took her a good 10 minutes before she actually dared to poke it a little and then pull lightly.
"What's .. going on?""I can tell you the answer to that." Chiharu spun on her heel, and right there just a few meters away, stood a male clad in black clothing. He had a katana in his right hand, but Chiharu didn't feel afraid. Rather, she stepped a bit closer to him.
"I.. died didn't I? That's why there's this weird chain in my chest. But.. who are you then?" A small smile entered his face, while he scratched his head lightly as if trying to think up a good answer.
"Well, I'm one of the good guys on the dead people side. I'm what you'd call a Shinigami. Death God." Is he pulling my leg here? Arching a slender eyebrow, Chiharu seemed to ponder over his words. It wasn't like she could come up with any better explanation over what he was, so for now she'd go with this.
"Umm and since you are this.. Shinigami.. then you are here to collect my soul?" His blue eyes sparkled a bit as he nodded. "Something like that. You aren't supposed to be wandering around here. Bad things can happen to you."
"And you are saying I'm going to some other place now then?" She bit her lip lightly, and looked to the side.
"Am I.. going to Hell?" "What? No no no, don't worry about that! You are going to this great place called Soul Society. I mean, you can be there without much worry. Perhaps, if you are lucky, you can find those you lived with but died without." Her gaze went up to his face, a look of disbelief crossing her face before something that looked like hope replaced it.
Can I .. met them again? "Alright, take me to this great place of yours. I have nothing here to linger around for anyways." The tall man took a small bow while flashing her a smile. "As you wish." He walked up to her and raised his Katana.
"Just close your eyes and think about something that made you happy." Chiharu gave him a last puzzling look, but then closed her eyes and let the image of green eyes and a deep, laughing voice fill her mind, before something touched her forehead and all went black again.
~ A soul in Rukongai. ~
Now at first when Chiharu opened her eyes in Rukongai, she wasn't so sure if that fella had been telling the truth. Everything seemed to be run down, there were people all over the place which didn't seem all that happy. So naturally what entered her mind was, that death was pretty boring. She roamed aimlessly around for some time. Searching for those familiar faces which were burnt into her memory. But at the same time she discovered something weird. Like she had some sort of energy within herself. It was fun to play a bit around with, but at the same time she felt too busy while searching. But as the years stretched on, her searching became less intense. Her patience started to crack a bit, and her hope was starting to die down. She needed something to do there before she would grow insane. It wasn't like her to just.. live and do nothing. Naturally whenever she could, she practised with a wooden sword she had carved out herself. But there was no opponent for her to spar with. Mostly because she seemed to be avoiding any type of communication with others.
One day she was out on a walk when she encountered something that would change her life in Soul Society forever. There seemed to have sneaked in a stray Hollow and it was done doing some havoc. There had been a few children at play not too far from the houses, but yet far enough to be out of reach for help. One of them was lying on the ground with it's leg half torn off as the others were scattered around in fright. One look at the situation, and Chiharu was already on the run with her wooden katana in her hand.
Damned monster. It wasn't her first time seeing one, but they always seemed to be getting more and more ugly.
"Run away before it comes after you!" The scared kids just stared at the person that came running, seemingly too frightened to really do anything.
Shit.. The Hollow stared with great interest and greed in it's eyes at the newcomer, clearly feeling she would become a good bite.
However, in the midst of the confusion, a black clad person came in view.
Thank God.. It was most probably just luck that there had been a Shinigami this close. Preparing to leave as soon as the Hollow had been killed, Chiharu stuck a bit around when the Shinigami seemed to pay attention to the wound on the kid. And right there before her eyes, the Shinigami started healing that wound.
A healer? The wound got closed up right there on the spot, while Chiharu watched a bit wide eyed. Something inside of her stirred, as she turned and walked quickly away. Originally she hadn't planned to become a Shinigami. But now, after having seen that, she felt like a new door had been opened. Her reasoning for not becoming a Shinigami was, that she had had enough of violence. She shouldn't stain her hands more, and especially not now after having been given a new life. But with this.. she could become someone that saved others. Someone that could give life instead of taking it. And thus.. she entered the academy.
~ The academy. ~
At first it seemed like Chiharu would be somewhat of a loner when she entered the academy. Despite having good grades and overall good performance when it came to practising Kidou or swordmanship, then it wasn't very easy for anyone to really approach her. If the other females tried to talk with her then she was gone in a heartbeat, while if the males started approaching she seemed to be a bit on the guard. But after a few training spars and fighting against minor Hollows, she started to get used to the idea of teamwork. And so she started to chat casually with others and managed to get a few friends. Males of course. Perhaps it was a bit weird to some, but her overall appearance along with how she acted on regular basis did indeed indicate that she was rather male than female.
Despite seemingly having a genuine fear for anything with boobs, then Chiharu grew to respect Mina Akiyama, the captain of 4th squad, greatly. It only made her more determined to enter this particular division upon watching that strong woman save lives and heal those that needed healing. Many found it weird and even silly that she would want to join the 4th Squad. Some even said the the 11th Squad would probably be the best option for her. But their words were just answered with a patient smile and a shake of Chiharu's head. She had had enough of violence, and she felt like she wouldn't be able to face her father nor Shin if she ever managed to find them amongst all the souls, if she wouldn't do something to repay for those lives she had taken while she lived. Even if with the years her memory got a bit hazed, she would never forget them nor certain things that might have been better forgotten from her human life.
The 4th Squad.
Upon finally getting to enter the 4th division, Chiharu started working hard in moving upwards in the ranking. Shortly after she had entered the division, she managed to get the name of her Zanpakuto spirit. It had been a rather calm day, so there was plenty of time to do training. Chiharu had probably been done sparring, practising Kidou and her swordmanship for full 9 hours when something started happening. Feeling a bit dizzy she had sat down, crossed her legs and then placed her hands on her Zanpakuto. She had heard that under certain circumstances it might be easier to meet your Zanpakuto spirit, so Chiharu decided that exhaustion would be the key to help her get in contact with her stubborn Zanpakuto spirit. So now, she started to take slow breaths and concentrate on focusing her Reiatsu. Her eyes closed while her heartbeat got slower, everything around her seemed to have gotten slower. The wind stopped. Everything was silent. And then she felt herself start to fall in circles, even if she was still sitting on the ground.
When opening her eyes, the first thing she saw was a sakura blossom that fell down right in front of her face. Turning her head in awe, she saw trees as far as her eyesight reached, and all those trees along with the ground and even the air, were filled with sakura blossoms.
"So.. beautiful.." "Yes they are, aren't they?" The gentle voice came right at Chiharu's side.
Woah! With a startled look, she jumped a bit away, as right next to her stood the most beautiful girl she had ever seen. A smile played over the girl's lips as her dark eyes watched Chiharu.
"Are you telling me that you are my Zanpakuto spirit??" A laughter as light as the gentle breeze in the grass slipped from the girl as she nodded.
"That would be correct. Do I sense some dismay about that?" Chiharu blushed a bit and scratched her head.
"Uh well no. I'm sorry. Was just a bit surprised. Her eyes ran over the girl which was around her own height, but had long dark hair which was put up in a loose knot at the back of her head. Her eyes were big and dark brown, slightly almond shaped. Her lips had a cherry red color to them. Her skin was pale and smooth. And she wore a light pink and purple kimono which only drew forth more of her natural beauty. It was safe to say that Chiharu was very much dumbstruck at having this type of a Zanpakuto spirit.
"Come, sit with me. I promise I wont bite." Feeling like a clumsy elephant next to this delicate girl, Chiharu quickly sat down on the ground just a bit away from the other female.
"So uuh.. what now? I mean, do we fight or something?" Again that comfortable and soothing laughter danced in the air while the girl shook her head a bit.
"Do you wish to fight me? Chiharu gave her a slightly crooked smile while shaking her head a bit. Honestly, she really didn't. However much she was sure this spirit could kick her ass, then she couldn't help but feel a bit.. bad just at the thought of figthing someone that looked this beautiful and helpless.
"I gather you are here to get my name?" "Well.. uh yeah." A short silence stretched between them, before the girl started humming a low song.
What the.. Not really feeling like being rude, Chiharu just remained silent while watching the beautiful scenery of the cherry blossoms all around.
"I like you." A flustered Chiharu jumped a bit while staring at the smiling girl next to her.
"W-w-what?" "Yup. You are nice to be around, and also smell nice." I smell nice? What the heck? If Chiharu would have had to guess she would have just said she smelled a bit like sweat as she had been pretty busy with physical labouring that day.
Did I get some super weird Zanpakuto spirit? "You should open up your heart more. You'd be surprised at the wonderful things that happen then." "I think I open up enough." Chiharu shrugged a bit while looking to the side. A small sigh seemed to have come from her spirit but she didn't pay it much heed.
"Alright, I'll strike you a deal. You open up more, and instead I'll tell you my name!" Raising an eyebrow, Chiharu turned her gaze at the beautiful girl and just stared at her.
"Seriously?" The girl nodded with a big smile. That seemed like a pretty easy deal, so Chiharu thought why not try it out. At least she would get that name she was so desperately seeking.
"Fine then, I'll do my best in that." The girl clapped her hands together in a jolly manner.
"Alright! Close your eyes and relax." Chiharu leaned her head a bit backwards and slowly did as said, loosening up her muscles while closing her eyes. A slight rustle was heard as the girl moved closer. Her warm breath tickled Chiharu's skin as it seemed the girl had moved close enough to whisper in her ear.
"My name.. is Chouchou." As soon as the name echoed in Chiharu's ears, she felt drawn away from there, and was forcefully slammed back into her physical body. Gasping a bit out while opening her eyes, and confirming the scenery around her which was again the seemingly dull landscape of Soul Society, she thought back on the name.
Chouchou? What kind of a silly name is that? After having communicated with her Zanpakuto, Chiharu managed to do so again and gained more of necessary information.
