| The sun shone so brightly as Kenshirou made his way along the streets of Sereitei to the barracks of squad 6. His new position as Vice-Captain made Kenshirou a very proud man. Many people congratulated him on his way with signs of respect and bowing.
"Congratulations Kenshirou, Vice-Captain! Make us proud!" screamed many men who knew Kenshirou from before which left him with nostalgic memories and a wide smile. He soon passed the shinigami of squad 6 who cheered less as they heard of Kenshirou was originally from squad 11 but to kenshirou he thought they were just a little intimidated. "You should not worry, shinigami of squad 6, I will do my best to bring squad 6 to the top! We will not go unheard of!" Kenshirou shouted to motivate the squad. Quite an ice-breaker he thought.
He finally reached the barracks and was led to the captains office, there to meet his new 'Taicho'. The guards then spoke of his arrival and opened the door for Kenshirou to walk through.
"Greetings, Taicho. Your Fuku-Taicho, Kenshirou Uesugi at your service." Kenshirou said while on his knees bowing to the captain. He believed his first impression would mean everything at this point. He wondered what the captain would be like. Was she nice? Was she a control-freak? Was she easily angered? The questions could only arise further at this point for Kenshirou while he awaited the response.

| Another hot day...why did it have to be so hot lately..such a cruel way to punish her for merely living. Lightning shook her mind clear of such thoughts as she took a deep breath in and resumed her gazing out the open sliding doors of her office. Indeed Byakuya had made himself quite the stunning little hide-away here, not that he needed one if you asked her....lucky bugger had a whole manor to hide in should he need to. Probably a whole hoard of woman willing to fan him should he request it....lucky bastard. Her frustration didn't linger in her mind very long as she felt a cool breeze blow through her hair providing a small amount of relief from the sweltering heat she was suffering through. Sure not everyone may have thought it was sweltering, some may not even have thought the heat was uncomfortable. But Lightning on the otherhand was not someone that dealt with hot weather very well what-so-ever.
The tranquil site laid out before the suffering captain took her interest away from the many voices she could hear coming from the shinigami's outside the garden's fencing. Leaning her back against the edge of the doorway Lightning began to attempt relaxation, something she did not often do nor even get the chance to do. She tilted her head to the side so as to be looking out upon the garden once more, she began to wonder just how others that wore the regular uniforms could have dealt with this heat. Looking down at her own clothing Lightning also noted that Black was probably a poor chpice of colour for hot weather also.
Suddenly a loud voice interrupted that which may have become silence, "Congratulations Kenshirou, Vice-Captain! Make us proud!". So the newly appointed 6th division lieutenant was on his way to visit the office was he? With a sigh Lightning moved a small strand of hair from her eyes and contemplated moving to the desk. Quickly deciding against the unnecessary action she leant her head against the doorway frame once more. "You should not worry, shinigami of squad 6, I will do my best to bring squad 6 to the top! We will not go unheard of!" Lightning's eyes closed as he exhaled deeply after hearing the response from the new lieutenant, she had heard he was from the 11th squad and his reply told her no different.
Loud, cocky, brazen and most of all loud.....why did their have to be such a combination. The door to the office opened and Lightning heard a voice speak to her "Greetings, Taicho. Your Fuku-Taicho, Kenshirou Uesugi at your service." Ahh so he was one of those people that were cheery in such weather....great. She turned her head slightly to allow her blue eyes to get a good look at this man that would serve Byakuya...when she found him once more; she would find him. Part of her wanted to drill him, to test him and see if he was worthy of the spot but she had to remember that she would not be the taicho for very long...at least not after she found Kuchiki and brought him back to his division.
She didn't speak a reply to the young man before her, part of the reason was that she was irritable due to the heat and part was because she rarely ever did talk much if not necessary. Her eye contact told Kenshirou that she had heard his greeting and acknowledged it.

| Kenshirou was still kneeling as he awaited the response. He poked his head up and seen a gesture to show that he was acknowledged . He stood up and bowed once more before he closed the door behind. He inspected the room around him which contained, files, loose paper that lay around the shelves, many books and of course the desk that was some what neat. Kenshirou only thought to himself that his new taicho made this room comfortable for herself.
He glanced over to his newly appointed taicho and noticed that a drip of sweat poured from her forehead down to the side of her cheek. "I see you are not really accustom to weather we are having, Taicho." Kenshirou stated. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a fan. He reached over to the Taicho's table and placed it before her. "This is for you, Tiacho." Kenshirou said with a small smile.
He bowed once more after he had placed the fan on her desk. He straightened himself up. His sleeveless top and loose leggings, which left room for a cool breeze every now and then, left Kenshirou quite cool when he was outside, but he could feel the heat rising in the room, even with the window open. Sweat began to pour from his forehead which ran down his cheek, his left eye followed it as it went down his cheek and finally fell from his face. He then awaited to see if she would accept his gift.
There was still the question in mind that on a day like this, the Taicho would go for a stroll, but the reason for this not being was probably because of either paperwork, or she just didn't appreciate the weather soul society was having.

| This one was definately odd, was it because he was a new lieutenant terrified of those above him in rank? or was it that he was a curtious man that followed traditions closely. As she watched him enter the room further she couldn't remember the last time she saw a lieutenant enter their captain's office in such a polite and dignified manner. Kenshirou mentioned the obvious discomfort that she was suffering through as a bead of sweat made it's way down her cheek. Wiping it away gently Lightning watched as Kenshirou placed something on the small table between them. Her cool blue eyes looked at the hand fan for a moment before raising her line of sight to the man before her. Yet another far too sweet and self-less act, this man before her with his almost overuse of honourifics and traditional acts was becoming almost sickeninly sweet. Was this a way to try and win her over with presents and kind gestures? well if so he had picked the wrong person to try that on. Lightning could see through acts and into the core of a person with ease, almost as if she was glaring through someone directly into their soul.
Normally Lightning wouldn't have accepted the offering laid out before her, but this time called for extreme measures. This was no ordinary battle, her foe would not be beaten easily...it did not bleed; her nortal foe was HEAT. Reaching out Lightning picked up the hand fan from the table and opened it with the skill that would have been reminisent of a Geisha whom had many years of practice. Indeed she did have almost too much practice with a hand fan.....so man battles she had fought against the heat and lost. Lightning watched as Kenshirou too lost the battle against the heat before her. Standing from her seated position she began walking towards the exit of the office. Figuring that by doing so she would hav ebeen confusing the poor heat plagued individual sharing the room she decided to speak. "Come now, i can't have you sweating all through my office."

| Kenshirou watched as his new Taicho accepted his gift. He had a sense of joy within him now that he had done something right on his first impression. He watched as Lightning used the fan so gracefully before him which left Kenshirou in a small awe. As the sweat from Kenshirou began to increase his Taicho spoke for the first time."Come now, I can't have you sweating all through my office." She said with such a demanding yet kind enough voice. Just like any other Captain would.
Kenshirou suddenly stood up straight with his arms at his sides and bowed once more. "My apologies, Taicho." He followed Lightning outside and closed the door on his way out behind her. He then skirmished to walk alongside Lightning, wondering where they were heading too. As they walked, many shinigami shown their respects to the captain by bowing before her and stepping aside. Kenshirou felt in a very high place at this moment, he had never had this much respect before now. He watched in awe before many of the people and turned his head towards the captain and smiled softly.
Kenshirou's innocence must have made the captain act oddly. Of course he never really knew what the captain was like but he thought to himself that maybe he was being to formal for her own comfort. As the captain, she must be formal everyday and would like to have a break once in a while. That's when Kenshirou thought of an idea.
"Taicho...You seem to have little work to be taking care off at this moment. Why don't we go to one of my favourite spots, with some food and drink and have a little picnic. I will pic a nice shady area too. Think of it as getting to me a little better, step-by-step we could learn more from one another. What do ya' say?" Kenshirou asked Lightning with that little smile again. He then thought to himself that maybe he broke too much ice there in one go which left him in a bit of a worrying state. The previous captain, Kuchicki Byakuya, would never have taken this from one of his sub-ordinates. Kenshirou just hoped that the new captain was different.

| Lightning took notice of Kenshirou's unfamiliarity with the respect he drew from those around him as they walked, in truth she had forgotten how it felt to walk without it occuring. She somewhat missed it really, oh how she wished she could go back for a while, to see just how different it was. Just when Lightning thought that she could pin Kenshirou for someone that follows the old traditions she was utterly gobsmacked by the words that escaped his lips next. DID HE JUST ASK HER TO GO ON A PICNIC. Immediately ceasing her steps Lightning stood utterly frozen for a moment as she held back both shock and utter amusement. Part of her wanted to break down into laughter at the mere thought of it, but as normal she would not allow that to show. Keeping a straight poker face, a skill she mastered long ago Lightning looked at the lieutenant gauging how serious he really was.
Much to her amusement he seemed utterly serious about the matter, oh well it was not as if he did anything wrong to be fair....she couldn't get angry with him or the such. She was sute that her reaction alone answered his question appropriately, but she would speak once more also. As she started walking once more words escaped her silence. "An unusual thing to mention, should you be hungry or thirsty we could get something. Although i'm afraid i will not be joining you in this picnic you speak of"

| Kenshirou walked a further three steps when Lightning had paused for that brief moment. His face cringed as if to say he 'shouldn't have said that'. He slowly turned to face Lightning only to see her with a blank face which then gave Kenshirou the same impression. "Just an idea..." Kenshirou muttered scratching the back of his head. He could only think at that point that people are indeed different from one another but nevertheless, he just shrugged it off and waited for his captain.
"An unusual thing to mention, should you be hungry or thirsty we could get something. Although I'm afraid i will not be joining you in this picnic you speak of" She said to Kenshirou. He just looked at her with nothing really to say. He turned his full body around to fully face her and finally found the words to speak. "Well I guess we could both use a light drink, Taicho. I wouldn't be a very efficient Fuku-Taicho if I just dozed off in the distance." At this point Kenshirou thought of what he just said. No more dozing off?! 'What have I gotten myself into!? he thought to himself.
He nodded out of his procrastination and looked towards his Taicho once again. "Should we make way to the refreshments then, Taicho?" He asked the captain in hopes he would not be shut down once again.

| Lightning nodded her head gently in response to Kenshirou's question, there was something about this new lieutenant that seemed reminiscent of a puppy eager to gain acceptance from it's newly found master. Perhaps this almost childlike innocence and eagerness would cease after some time in the position, or perhaps this was simply him...only time would tell her the answer she sought. Something about him made her think that perhaps he was accustomed to a much more cozy life style than he would find awaiting him in this new role. Paperwork...oh yes he would soon become a close friend to the pen and paper. Lightning watched as few male shinigami walked past with their shirts removed to stay cool, she couldn't help but feel envious of them....it wasn't like the women could do the same thing. Actually the more she thought about it they were probably breaking some kind of uniform code or something. Shaking her mind free of the thought she continued walking as she enjoyed what little breeze there was to found.

| (OOC: lol it's quite alright. I don't mind. ) The sun was still shining ever so brightly and getting used to the lieutenant position was going to be quite a task for Kenshirou, expecially at this rate, but he did think to himself that time will make things more comfortable between his relationship of himself and his Lightning. He also then thought to himself what she might be thinking. Was she uncomfortable also? Was having a new lieutenant too soon a bit too much? The questions just raised further and further for Kenshirou. On his way to the stall for a nice refreshing cold soft beverage, male shinigami were walking by with their uniform open, a nice breeze for them to keep cool indeed. He looked at his captain and seen that she did not question them nor speak at all in that matter, she must have been fine with them walking around like that considering the scorching weather they were having. Lucky for Kenshirou, his uniform consisted of a sleeveless kimono and loose hakama, plenty of fresh air to cool his body down. They finally reached the refreshment stall and Kenshirou looked at Lightning before he began to speak. "This one is on me, Taicho." Kenshirou said with another small smile. At this rate Kenshirou was actually becoming a little weary of his kindness, he couldn't keep up with this forever, but maybe time will change things for him. He retrieved the soft drinks and gave one to Lightning. "If you don't mind me asking, Taicho, are we out for a brief walk? Or do we have an errand you must tend to?" | |

| Lightning's captain's haori waved behind her in the wind that could barely be called breezes. She was thankful that she did not have to wear the full and standard Shinigami Uniform like so many others, it would have been utter torture for herself. Merely the thought of such a thing made her want to grimace. Despite it being so hot today it did not seem to be dampening the spirits of many of the newer officers, perhaps it was fear that ran through their systems as they scurried from barrack to barrack doing menial duties...new officers could not afford to slack off even despite the current temperature. Her eyes returned to her lieutenant whom had raced ahead of her towards the refreshment stand and purchased her a drink, there it was again...the small puppy eagerly awaiting acceptance from it's new master. These acts of random kindness could be nothing more in Lightning's eyes. She accepted the drink, as she listened to his question about errands. "no, perhaps it is o.k for me to torture myself in that office due to laziness but i would not force it upon another" There it was again, her weird way of communicating had taken something that could have been sweet and turned it into something well not so sweet. Those that got to know Lightning...which in truth not many people did could see through her words and her riddles into the true meaning of them. Was this man someone that would understand her riddles? "You may catch more flies by masking vinegar with honey, although when the honey is gone the flies would see the deception and leave would they not?"

| As more shinigami passed them, it did catch his and Lightning's eye. Indeed the weather was too great this day but it did not stop the shinigami and their duties. Lightning received Kenshirou's refreshment and stood and waited for the time to reply to his question. "no, perhaps it is o.k for me to torture myself in that office due to laziness but i would not force it upon another" Lightning replied, leaving Kenshirou in further thoughts of what to do. He did not want this day to become out of use, it was too good.
He then watched upon the next words that escaped his Captains lips. "You may catch more flies by masking vinegar with honey, although when the honey is gone the flies would see the deception and leave would they not?" It was a riddle of some sort. Kenshirou pondered for a moment and then chuckled to himself. "I see, Taicho. The bottom line is that you don’t catch much by using a sour, bitter, angry approach…no matter what or whom the target is, whether it is flies...Or their newly appointed Taicho." Kenshriou then let out a small sigh followed by a smile.
"So you knew all along that I wasn't acting as myself, just someone trying to fit in. Can you really blame me though, Taicho? First impressions mean a lot in my opinion, how would you feel if I came in to your office and immediately put my feet up? I'm not used to being a very formal kind of person, Taicho. I like laying back amongsthe rooftops to clear my head and enjoy the weather. I like a good fight every now and then, and I do love to train. All these formalities mean little in the long run, don't you think? I mean, In the end, I should be treating everyone equal. My apologies, Taicho. I will accept any punishment you deem worthy." Kenshirou said while bowing towards the end of his rant. On the bright side, he spoke his own words and how he felt about the whole situation at matter. Maybe his Captain was just like everyone else. Maybe she doesn't even notice the formalities anymore.

| Lightning ignored his rant, it was merely a sign of his insecurity around her. "Formalities have their place, although true loyalty, true dependability and true respect comes not from an honourific. I may have rank but i do not see how a mere name or title spoken by others shows me their respect. Actions speak louder than words, although to some an honourific means an awful lot. It is about reading people correctly" Lightning pictured a memory of Byakuya Kuchiki in her mind from back in the academy as she spoke of some needing honourifics. That was one man that demanded the proper use of honourifics if ever there was one.
Slowly sipping on her drink Lightning could have sighed, a cool drink on such a warm day truly was delightful. The slight breezes started to pick up and Lightning started to think just maybe she might be able to survive this hellish day. She decided to try and make small talk which was something she rarely ever did, perhaps it would help put his mind at ease. "What have you planned for your day?"

| Kenshirou listened to what Lightning had to say and to be fair, she did make a point. Kenshirou looked down and put both his hands behind his head and stretched his body upwards looking towards the sky. He then looked around to see what others were doing. Some people were rushing off. Some standing in groups talking and some just walked enjoying the weather in general. Kenshirou was a down to earth guy who did have respect for the captains. He thought of his old friends and how they bowed to him now, he remembered himself entering the sixth squad barracks this morning, his friends bowing and giving him more respect that a friend could give. He did want his friends to be bowing that would just feel wrong to Kenshirou. It made him sort of feel like his friends were not even his friends to begin with, they should have known that a simple 'Congratulations!' would have sufficed.
He then snapped back to his captain who had then asked him a for a change. Quite a shock to Kenshirou after trying to make conversation before but being shut down in the process. "What have you planned for your day?" The Captain asked him. Kenshirou felt like a lot of people had just jumped out on him and shouted as a surprise party but he immediately thought of his answer. "Well, I guess all I had panned for today was to meet you and get acquainted with some fellow shinigami and see the office I have been given but in the meantime I just wanna embrace the sun's rays and enjoy the day. What about you, Taicho?"

| Enjoy the day? had he really just said that he wanted to enjoy the day? Lightning couldn't believe anyone could enjoy such a miserably hot day. "I have no particular duties planned for today although i am sure that something will make it's way to the top of my to-do list. Something always does." Indeed Lightning knew too well that in the captain's role something always seemed to make it's way into your day whether you wanted it to or not. "Perhaps i should show you to your office, do you know where it is?"

Kenshirou stood patiently as Lightning mentioned that her day was left empty of errands but was almost positive that something would show up unexpectedly in her schedule for the day. She then mentioned about Kenshirou's office, something that was in his schedule. Indeed he did not know where it was despite it obviously being in the squad six barracks. It couldn't have been too far. He looked relaxed as he crossed his arms and tilted his head up slightly along with that famous smirk on his face.
"No. Could you show me the way, Taicho?" Kenshirou asked while still holding his pose. He then gazed into the sun with his eye squinted as he wore an eye patch on the other. As the breeze continued the attachments on his wristbands began to wave to and fro and the dust from the ground moved gracefully to a couple feet from it's original place. Birds were nesting in the trees with shade while some other flew across soul society and landed in various places. He quickly finished his refreshment and gave it back to the man at the stall before facing his captain to find his answer.

| Lightning decided she would hang on to her drink, she had no intention of drinking it quickly. Standing she gave a look to the stall owner who seemingly understood the meaning behind her eyes. "Take it with you, i wont miss a single cup. Besides i can send my boy here to get it later" The man rustled the hair of his young son that stood beside him clearly embarassing the boy. With a small and barely visible smile Lightning nodded gently and turned to face the direction they would be heading. "As you would have imagined your office is located close to Byakuya's own" Some might have said that she made a mistake then in saying Byakuya's own not her own..but to her she did no such thing. She was not the captain of the 6th division right now, she was acting captain of the 6th division..she would be bringing Byakuya back to his post.

| Kenshirou watched as Lightning took the drink with her with no complications involved with the stall owner. He then looked at the small embarrassed son of the stall owner and gives a small smile and chuckles slightly. They both faced the direction towards the lieutenants office, where the dust settled in the distance and the clouds cleared to make way for the overwhelming sun, they started walking. On the way, Lightning mentioned that the office was close to Byakuya Kuchiki's office which led Kenshirou to ponder as to why she did not call it as her own. He squinted his eye a little and summed up the courage to ask why. "You mean your office, Taicho... The previous captain is missing, remember? But I guess we shouldn't give up hope just yet eh?" Kenshirou finished with a rhetorical question. He knew there was still hope for the Captains, Vice-Captains and other shinigami but for him, they seemed to be at near improbability for ever coming back to Soul Society, well maybe not all of them.
As they were walking, many people passed them by with the standard formalities of bowing to show their sign of respect which Kenshirou then tried to ignore as he would have to get used to it eventually. They finally reached the captains chambers once more but this time to Kenshirou's brand new office, The Fuku-Taicho's office. Kenshirou could only hope that there was not paperwork already waiting for him inside. He wanted to have his first impression to be a nice clean, tranquil office, where he could relax. He waited for his Captain to show him the inside of the office, while he stood before the door and gestured for Lightning to go ahead and introduce him to his new accommodation.

| Lightning found herself biding her tongue, she could have lashed out and insisted that Byakuya would be returning to the 6th division but that wasn't the type Lightning was. Besides she didn't need to convince anyone, she would find him and bring him back to his division and his duties whether people believed her or not. She didn't reply to Kenshirou's comment, perhaps it was rude but it was either that or risk saying something rather too harsh instead. Instead she changed the subject, "I have heard the former lieutenant was not one for tidyness" oh how she pictured Byakuya becoming enraged at his lieutenant for that very reason, Byakuya was one for tidyness and organisation. Perfect for the 6th division really, that was one of the reason he would return to them. Noone could make a better captain for them in her opinion.
As he motioned for her to open the door to his office Lightning braced herself for the potential mess she would find on the other side, she had heard rumours that the room was not the neatest and she herself shared the like of tidyness with Byakuya. She opened the door slowly keeping her gaze on the face of her lieutenant, his expression would tell her what there was to see.

| Kenshirou monitored his captain as she did not reply to his question. He looked her up and down before she mentioned he gazed upon the next words that escaped her mouth. He then thought back to the days before the disappearance of the many officers of Soul Society. He distinctly remembered his thoughts of Vice-Captain Renji Abarai while he was in his position. He always worked hard training to surpass his Captain, Byakuya Kuchiki. He respected Renji's ambition and that was probably the reason why his office might have been untidy and gave himself a bad reputation of his organizational skills but what would you expect from a shinigami with such a will to fight.
Lightning opened the door to Kenshirou's newly appointed office close to his Captains. Her eyes remained fixed on him as if to say, 'what do you think?' or maybe it was just a plain old 'after you' statement. Kenshirou walked slowly, peeking his head into the room, scanning the office. "It's great!" Kenshirou said with relief and heightened volume in his voice while walking into the center of the room and roaming the room. The room had a nice wooden floor, nice pictures hung up on the wall, a few couches and tables to relax on, the windows were open with a cool breeze rolling throughout the room, plants on either side of his bookshelf and of course, his desk . Of course there had to be some problems. Paperwork was lined up in stacks of around five hundred around his new desk that had to be filled in and the breeze began to blow some sheets across the room and onto the floor.
Kenshirou sighed. "Taicho, would you mind if I took the day off? I know it's my first day but this is a bit much." Kenshirou asked as he put his hands behind his head. He didn't think for a split second that paperwork would be this bad. He pouted and scanned through the work. The work consisted of mainly the damages the shinigami of the sixth squad had done over the past few months. The look on Kenshirou's face began to fade from an uplifted one to one that had just seen something traumatizing. He slowly looked towards Lightning with his eye twitching waiting for her to give him some sort of upside to the whole situation.

| Lightning was rather shocked to see that the office was relatively tidy except for the large and menacing piles of paperwork everywhere. The shocked her even more, she would never have imagined Byakuya would have allowed the paperwork to back-up so much....unless he did not know about it. That must have been it, perhaps Kuchiki had too much trust and faith in his lieutenant and didn't check up on it. She noted Kenshirou's change of attitude from that of happy to that of overwhelmed. As he asked for the day off she could have scowled at him or laughed, seriously he wanted to already run from the paperwork? he hadn't even started to fill them out.
Then it occured to her that being new to the rank he would no doubt be slow at the paperwork, and for the amount here he would never finish before another stack would appear on his desk. So deciding that it would be best for the division if she finished the paperwork quickly. Her reflexes reacted to a piece of paperwork that blew towards her trying to escape the room out the newly opened door. Looking over the paper that she now held she furrowed er eyebrows at the hefty amount on the bill for damages.
"Very well, you may take the day from paperwork." Lightning walked over to a pile of paperwork near the desk and placed the paper back on top. She would remain here while her lieutenant had the day off and she would complete the paperwork...not that she was going to say that to him.

| Kenshirou watched as the paper made it's way over to Lightning. He also watched her face very carefully as she read what it had written on it. Her eyebrows moved in a concerning way which led Kenshirou to ponder at what it had written. It was his paperwork after all. Just like that, the next few words that came from Lightning mouth relieved him of his duties. Kenshirou did not quite understand the situation here. If that single piece of paper caused Lightning to relieve him, then it must have to be a handful to do a majority of this work.
Kenshirou then looked at the other stacks of paper as Lightning placed the paper to the top of the pile. He then had no choice put to satisfy his thirst of knowing what the situation in fact was. "Umm...Taicho. What seems to be the problem? If you think you are staying here to do my duties you shouldn't." Kenshirou asked. He walked over to the desk and peeked his head at an angle to see what was the problem with the sheet of paper. Probably bills or repair costs no doubt.
He then focused towards the couch and lay back on it with his feet up. He stretched for a longer period than anyone should. The comfort was satisfactory for Kenshirou. He then looked at a cupboard to his side where he then reached over and opened to see what was inside. There was a full sake bottle just waiting for Kenshirou to take. He looked towards his Captain again and gestured towards the bottle as if to say 'would you like some?'
Kenshirou then took out two small bowls and placed them on the table and filled the bowls. Kenshirou lifted one of them and began sipping at it to try it out. His face said it all. "Taicho! You must have some!" Kenshirou said as he continued to drink his. Within a matter of seconds he refilled the bowl and began drinking it again. Little did Lightning know, Kenshirou doesn't know when to quit when he starts drinking which she would soon find out.

| Shouldn't? she shouldn't do this paperwork? she shouldn't ensure that it is done on time? she shouldn't ensure it is done quickly? she shouldn't ensure that it is done properly? That was exactly what she should do, why on earth would he say that she shouldn't.....perhaps he wished to do it himself. Was it a matter of his pride? Men definately had a complicated sense of pride, something Lightning never tried to understand. She watched his failed attempt to sneak a glimpse of the paper she returned to it's place on top of one of the many piles layed about the room, definately a failure on the sneak department. As Kenshirou opened the cupboard to find a bottle of alcohol Lightning was gaining more and more of an understanding about the previous lieutenant. A curiousity also washed over her as she began to wonder how it was that Byakuya would have felt about such a lieutenant. It hadn't taken long for Kenshirou to have poured them both a drink.
Lightning gently shook her head, closing her eyes as she did so. She was not a drinker, in fact she had only ever tried alocohol once before in her life. A single glass had turned her off of the entire idea, how people drank it she never knew. It smelt bad and it tasted bad...not to mention the way affected one's behaviour. She would never allow herself to be in such a state, no it was no appropriate nor dignified for someone of her rank. NEVER. She didn't have a problem with others drinking however, in excess perhaps but not an occasional drink. Drunks however had better not get in her way, she holds no mercy for those that put themselves in that state.

| As Lightning shook her head, Kenshirou was pounding the drinks away one after another. He didn't mind that his Captain didn't drink he would only challenge her otherwise. He did not know the history of why she chose not to drink so he thought he should play it safe by just going ahead without her. The bottle became half empty and Kenshirou still did not feel the alcohols effect on him. He looked around to see if there were any more bottles of sake just in case he ran out of sake in this one. He got up from the couch and looked in different cupboards than before in search for alcohol but could not find any. It was the only bottle?! Where could one bottle of sake get anyone? Certainly not drunk or tipsy in that matter depending if you can handle your alcohol or not.
Kenshirou returned to the couch and lay his feet up and rested his head against the top corner. He then leant over and spoke to Lightning. "Ummm...Taicho. What should we do...That isn't boring"? The longer Kenshirou spent with his Captain, the more comfortable he felt with her. He began to feel more at home and maybe this was because it was his office. Lightning was beginning to find the real Kenshirou. A somewhat lazy character and quite down to Earth.

| Time passed as Kenshirou downed drink after drink, the rate with which he was drinking told Lightning that he was obviously a regular partaker in alcoholic beverages. She sat down and started to tick boxes and fill out questions of those papers that sat on top of a pile close to her. Watching from the corner of her eye Lightning could see Kenshirou scuttling around the room and rapidly searching for more alcohol. It was almost comical as she caught his severe disappointment at not finding anymore in the room. He returned to his couch which she was rather surprised an office had in the first place and he lay still for no more then a moment before speaking once more. Having been one that was not used to social situations nor even the chit chat that came with it Lightning was slightly puzzled by his question.
What exactly did boring mean to him? She highly doubted they had the same idea of it's definition. Lightning didn't find paperwork at all entertaining however the fact that it needed to be done overrode the fact it may have been boring. After all in life it is not a matter of can or can't, there are just some things you just do. Paperwork was one of those things as was many other various things that came with the captain's haori that she now wore. "I know not of anythings that you may find entertaining here. Perhaps you would prefer to go and drink with some others? I have heard the captain of the 13th division is quite the alcoholic i'm sure he will oblige you should the offer be gestured towards him"
Lightning didn't really mean for it to sound rude nor harsh in the slightest, it was jsut her way of speaking that made things come across that way. To those she had known for a while her language was easier to understand the meanings behind it, but those that did not know her well generally read her intentions wrong.

| Kenshirou was shocked before, but did the Captain just give him permission to go drink with some of the guys and the Captain of the thirteenth squad? He chuckled as he heard the part where Lightning mentioned that the Captain of the thirteenth division was a bit of an alcoholic. Apart from that it did sound appeasing and he had already started drinking. The bottle of sake was nearly empty and he still wasn't getting drunk yet. Although, he couldn't just leave the Captain to do all of his work. He then decided to help out with the paperwork. He stood up and walked over towards the paperwork, without speaking to Lightning and lifted the top page of one of the piles.
He looked at the cost of damage to what a shinigami done in the world as part of their mission. He then lifted up and ink stamp for the saying 'approved' and stamped the page moving on to the next. He then decided to pull up another chair and sat opposite to Lightning as he too needed the desk. He looked through the next page and approved that one also. He then took out a quill from an ink bottle on the desk and began signing for supplies on the following pages.
He looked up towards his Captain and gave a slight smile. He trusted his Captain as she just proved that she would cover for her Vice-Captain, even on his first day. With the two of them working on the paperwork, progress would be much more sufficient.
