Early morning spar... (Lightning...open to an audience)

"let's do this" ^^

It had only been a few minutes, but after leaving his office, Hiyro headed straight for the training grounds. His heart thumped excitedly in his chest as he hung up his haori, the empty training ring calling his name. It had been so long since Hiyro had any sort of activity other then filling out paperwork. All work and no play makes for a dull day.. or something like that. Entering the training arena with his hand on the hilt of his zanpakuto. He stood in the middle of the arena waiting for lightning, kumori sasayaki stirring happily with anticipation.

Lightning had began to walk to the training grounds pretty much straight after Hiyro left, the only difference in their path was Lightning's detour to get a drink of water. She had been thirsty for a while and decided she was best not to fight feeling so, not against this foe. The weather was nice for the time of year, it was a clear sky but the sun's rays were not harsh on her skin. A cool breeze was gently blowing, only enough to gently ruffle her hair. Indeed the day held weather perfect for the approaching spar.

As she approached the training grounds she noticed her opponent was already there waiting for her, Zetsu-maru whined with joy and eagerness as the distance between him and his foe was shortened. It was times like this Lightning saw the puppy like nature he held, he may have looked big but he was still young at heart. He would lose his way if it was not for the calm and almost cold nature of his master...no comrade, lightning was more than a master to him she was his mate, his pal, his comrade. They relied on each other, they believed in each other, they trusted each other and they would gladly protect each other.

Lightning removed her loosely fitting captain's haori that would do no more than flutter in the wind and movements creating problems for herself and hung it on a branch of a tree she passed. She did not summon her blade as of yet, she would of course but just not yet. Standing before her foe she stared into his eyes with her very own gauging him. "ready?"

Hiyro's lilac eyes never left Lightning as soon as she entered their range. A small smile tugged at the edge of his lips as his opponent stepped into the ring, kumori now buzzing excitedly. He wasn't too sure if himself or kumori was more excited about the upcoming spar. His zanpakuto spirit always got restless with extended periods of no activity, but would never bother him if left for too long. Kumori sasayaki was an odd spirit, and never came out unless called upon. Hiyro knew that other shinigami got the treat of actually interacting with their spirit on a regular basis, even become friends with them. Hiyro didn't hate the spirit in the least, they just didn't hold a strong bond.

Putting his hand on the hilt of his sword, he let out a small laugh. "Of course, let's begin." he said, drawing the cold steel from is sheath. As she stated previously, Lightning would be using this as a gage to see if he was a suitable Captain Commander, at least in strength. He intended to prove his abilities to her, since she had not been there for his initiation. Hiyro didn't mind giving her a first hand try at it though. With an excited pulse of his unique dark reiatsu, he awaited lightning's first move. "Ladies first" He said, holding his blade in front of his body.

Lightning smirked slightly as she felt the pulse of reiatsu eminate from the captain commanders body, this would be fun. Raising her arm out to her side Lightning held it in the air, in a mere matter of a second tiny, glowing, light pink particles began to form and swirl around her arm and hand increasing speed forming the shape of her blade. With a flash they disappeared leaving behind her blade gripped in her hand. She could feel Zetsu-maru pratically itching to go as their bond became absolute, they would fight this battle as one.

Lightning had a habit of testing her foes in the beginning of a fight, and this would be no different. She had no idea of how this man fought nor of how well he did, she needed to suss out his actions first. They had both shown off a unique side of themselves and now the spar was about to begin, the eagerness in the air became tense...she would make the first move. Normally Lightning was more about countering then pure offense but since he insisted she go first then she would. With her rather incredible speed Lightning shunpo'd behind Hiyro, she did not prepare to attack oh no...she was ready to block any attack that might come her way. She needed to see how this foe of hers would react to this simple evasive action.

Even though Hiyro was aware of Lightning’s summoning ability, seeing her summon her blade was truly incredible. Hiyro thought that it would be a very useful ability to have, not having to constantly carry around your zanpakuto, having the ability to summon it whenever. He felt her reiatsu fill the air as her blade materialized, excitement for the upcoming attack almost getting to be too much. His heart was pumping with excitement, gripping the hilt of his sword more tightly.

As she shunpo’ed behind him, the small male made no move to counter. Very good, he thought to himself she’s fast. With a small smirk, he glanced at her over his shoulder. ”I had almost forgotten about your rare constant shikai ability, Lightning-Taicho.” he said, turning the hilt of his blade around in his hands, ”Haku Sakini” he said, his blade disappearing into thin air, re-materializing as a bladed staff. Normally he wouldn’t have released so early, but he figured the fight would get boring if he didn’t keep his opponent on her toes. ”Now we’re on even grounds.” He said as he turned to face her

“I shall make sure you do not forget it any time soon” Lightning was surprised to say the least when Hiyro did not take a defensive posture nor try to attack her before she could him, instead he released his zanpaktou. Unlike her blade that merely changed colour between it’s forms his changed it’s entire form, they truly were very different in combat it would seem. With his bladed staff it appeared he would favour long distance combat, it seemed this would be rather interesting after all.

Going on the offensive Lightning masked her reiatsu*, as long as this ability was active her reiatsu was completely undetectable and therefore made it hard for an opponent to keep up with her attacks. After all she was fast and without her reiatsu to inform her opponents of where she was her movements would be hard to follow. With her body electrically charged due to her shikai Lightning shunpo’d towards Hyro, she would attack him head on with a flurry of rapid strikes from her blade and well aimed kicks.

A small smile spread across Hiyro's face at Lightning's words. He wouldn't forget about this fight, oh no. He had a feeling that this was going to be a battle that he won't ever forget. Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, he noticed that Lightning’s riatsu disappeared completely. Hiyro had encountered opponents with this ability before, but only very powerful ones. As his opponent shunpo-ed towards him, he took another deep breath, readying himself for her attacks.

Now normally one would gain an advantage with a reiatsu mask, allowing it so their moves aren’t prematurely given away to their opponent. But as soon as Lightning entered his field of force*, Hiyro could feel her every move. Quickly and precicely, Hiyro was able to dodge Lightning’s attacks, all save for one. Since Hiyro was not able to dodge this last attack, he had to stop it instead. Quickly focusing his mind, Hiyro was able to increase the friction in the air particles, slowing down the attack just enough to allow Hiyro to safely dodge it. Now it was his turn. Sliding a foot back, Hiyro dashed at Lightning, aiming a few quick, well planned attacks at her.

Surprised was the best word to describe Lighting as she noticed that Hiyro could somehow dodge her attacks, it was not her reiatsu giving her away she knew that much. But then how was it he was able to know where and when her attacks would come? She doubted it was her speed, there had to be something that she could not see acting under the surface of this battle. Increasing her speed even more Lightning was able to get a blow that seemed it would land, but then something strange happened…. Her attack slowed. Even though it was only by the tiniest amount that most would not have been able to notice, she herself could sense it. As her flurry of attacks came to an end it seemed she herself would be on the receiving end of some of Hiyro’s.

Like she had, Hiyro was testing her speed and ability to dodge. They were toying with each other as they started the battle off, these two warriors were enjoying the thrill of combat. Lightning began to notice that she had to use more speed than she should have had to in order to dodge Hiyro’s attacks. It was as if her body was being slowed……. Not by much, but enough to have her notice. What it was that was doing it she did not know, no but she would have to be on her guard.

Leaping back to put some room between Hiyro and herself Lightning decided it was time to take the battle to the next step. “ * "a lone wolf may take a stand, but only the pack shall know victory" With that sentence spoken a wind began to blow and upon that wind travelled hundreds of cherry blossom petals, the winds would form into 3 large tornadoes (1 on lightning’s left and 2 on her right). As the tornadoes clear three identical clones of Lightning would remain in their place. Since Lightning’s reiatsu was masked, her clones too were under that effect. This meant that there was no way to sense the difference between them and the real Lightning, nor was there any visual differences one could see. The only differences between the clones and Lightning were in their power levels.

With a smirk across her face Lightning and her three clones simultaneously shunpo’d towards Hiyro, clone 1 would attack him from the left with a kick to his head, clone 2 from his right side with a sweeping kick to his feet and clone 3 from his back with a kick to his lower back. Lightning herself would appear 100 metres in front Hiyro and send a sphere of her electricity gathered from the air towards him. This sphere would follow Hiyro if he tried to dodge it and would travel towards him at the same speed as an average cero. **

He was quite impressed when Lightning was able to dodge his attacks. Although they were not even close to full strength attacks, she still showed better skills then most he had fought and claimed to be ‘Captain level’ shinigami. With her level of fighting skill, he knew that she would be able to feel his manipulation of the friction, but the real question was would she figure it out? She was intelligent, from when he had heard, so Hiyro assumed that she would.

After he impeccable dodges, Hiyro felt excitement build up as Lightning distanced herself, smirking as she spoke and the cherry blossom winds picked up. The tornadoes kicked up the dust that was settled on the ground, along with that and the cherry blossoms, Hiyro was unable to see what Lightning was doing. Keeping his guard up within his field of force in case she decided to sneak attack, he held his defensive stance until the dust settled, revealing not one, but four Lightnings.

Looking from one to the other, Hiyro quickly discovered that there was no way to tell which of these were the real thing. A small chuckle escaped his lips as he enjoyed the cleverness of the ability. His laugh didn’t last long, though, for three of the four shunpoed towards himself, each with a well timed and aimed attack. As each entered his radius, their movements were being slowed dramatically. The first, Hiyro caught the foot of the kick, then simultaneously jumped and increased the friction on the clothing of the Lightning behind him, avoiding the second two attacks.

Looking up, Hiyro saw the fourth Lightning had launched a sphere of electricity, and it was coming straight for him. As it neared, Hiyro jumped to avoid it, only to sense it’s trajectory change to meet his. A homing type attack. as the electricity entered his field of force, it became apparent that he would have to step it up a notch. Quickly focusing his mind, Hiyro stared down at the sphere of lightning as it came closer, forming a thin wall of dark matter* between himself and the lightning, the explosion of the two colliding ringing in his ears.

Dark Matter:

Lightning watched as her clones had their attacks dodged and or countered, it seemed that he was using the same tactic on them as he was on her previously. She wasn’t sure how he was slowing them down but the fact remained that he was doing so. Her clones were quick to regain their composure and charge and charge at the captain commander through the smoke of the explosion he caused somehow blocking her projectile. Attacking one after the other her clones attacked Hiyro once more with kicks and punches; clone 1 would aim a kick towards his face, the second clones would attempt to take the feet out from under her target with a sweeping kick as the 3rd and 4th clones would follow up with well aimed punches from each side of Hiyro.

The clones were doing nothing more than acting as a diversion as Lightning started the incantation for Bakudo #63: Sajo Sabaku (Locking Bondage Strips). Completing the casting as the final attack from her clones was finished Lightning prepared to use one of her special abilities upon who should be a momentarily trapped Captain commander.

The battle was starting to pick up pace. He was barely able to regain his composure from his last counter before the three Lightning's were on him again, almost catching him off guard from the lack of visibility in the air. He knew he would not be able to dodge all of the oncoming attacks in time. He also noted that the Lightning that has fired the electricity ball wasn't attacking again, which must have meant these attacks were probably nothing more then a mere distraction for another attack to come.

As each of the clone's attacks closed in on their target, they suddenly stopped, as if frozen in place. In reality, it was the particles around them were keeping them in place, but they would definitely find themselves rendered immobile. A great deal of concentration had gone into his, so Hiyro was only able to hold all three still for but a moment. Just as the grip was released on the Lightnings, without incantation, Hiyro casted Hadō #1*, and with a wave of force, the three bodies were propelled away from his own.

As he had suspected, the fourth Lightning had been up to no good this entire time. Just as the other's bodies were being pushed away, the golden glowing rope whipped towards him, winding around his body. Quite clever indeed. Hiyro was fairly impressed that she was able to capture him, if only for a moment. It would take a great deal of energy to get himself out, but he knew it wouldn't be a problem. Instead of attempting to break free immediately, he instead started building up his Reiatsu, to be able to release a high concentration of it at an opportune time. The only risk using this technique took was that his concentration was set on the build up of Reiatsu, so his friction manipulation would be weakened for a moment.

Watching as her clones were slowed down immensely Lightning’s eyes widened, he wasn’t manipulating time that much she knew….but then how was it that he was slowing attacks that came towards him? It was indeed interesting…. The clones were knocked back a great distance by the rather cunning use of sho, it was interesting to see it used in such a manner. The clones all recomposed themselves as Lightning watched the captive captain commander, he was not trying to break the bakudo as of yet? He most definitely was an interesting opponent, with a smirk Lightning decided she would not try to get close to the man that seemed able to slow her melee attacks down. She would try another approach, as her clones stood ready to act once more on the sidelines Lightning decided to allow him to remain still and vulnerable. “Shred Zetsu-maru*” Lightning spoke the words that would signal her attack to her zanpaktou spirit in a calm and cold tone as her eyes focused on her target that was still bound by her bakudo.

A large yellow wolf would appear at Lightning’s side, appearing in his form of manifested electricity Zetsu-maru would run towards Hiyro with incredible speed. To most he became naked to the eye as he charged towards his prey at the speed of lightning, he would pass through Hiyro electrocuting him as he passed through. If his attack was successful Zetsu-maru would turn around and pass through his now stunned foe once more, this would repeat 2 more times until he had passed through a total of 4 times.

((OOC: I left the attack open to be dodged since I have to XD but Zetsu-maru is a manifestation of electricity so hiyro’s slow down would be only mildly effective and he travels at the speed of lightning. But like I said I wont/cant god mod and auto hit so I left it open and ended the post there so you can act ^^ After all perhaps you can think of something ^^))

Niriel had woken early and walked the edge of seireitei basking in the serenity of the forest. As she returned to her division's headquarters she passed near the training grounds and heard the commotion. Normaly she would ignore people sparring, but today sounded more intense than usual and she peeked around the corner to see two high level combatants going at it. Niriel was the worst at remembering names but she recognized the faces and decided to sit by and watch. She always enjoyed seeing the unique abilities of shinigami but detested fighting so she told herself she would only stay a moment. Circling safely around, she sat with her back against the storage shed's wall and watched the two. Both had eyes full of pride, and their movements showed great skill aquired from intense training but both were still young to her eyes.
